I have a 7 year old cocker who in the last week has been in so much pain. He started yelping when barking and was generally a lot quieter than usual (he was walking around fine and not off his food or drink). So we took him down to the vets to be checked out. He gave him a really good check over & couldn't find anything specifically wrong at that time. He was given a painkilling injection and we were told to go back if things didn't improve. He was slightly improved over the next day then things got worse. He began hanging his head, was really withdrawn, yelping out in pain on movement (no weakness noted), off his food etc. So we promptly returned him to the vets where he had some x-rays done. They said that there were signs of some arthritic changes in his neck and would start him on some painkillers. These didn't work so after a couple of painkilling injections (rimadyl) he has been started on oral rimadyl tablets which he seems to be having some relief with (he is also on strict rest). We are currently waiting to see Andy Torrington (orthopaedic specialist). But just wanted to know whether anyone else has had any similar problems. I know the story is long winded but very worried and concerned about my best friend.
