why do we so fall in love with our dogs?

Because we give back to them what they give us.  We could protect ourselves from the ultimate pain by keeping our distance and our feelings in check - but it would be at the expense of all the joy too. It is absolute hell when you realise you can't be together with your dog for ever but it is so good to know that you lived your time together as richly as possible.  I hope so much that Oliver pulls round from this to give you more happy days.  Thinking of you all.

So sorry to hear that Oliver is not well Mark - hope he is back to his usual lovely self very soon. 

It is awful when they are not well and especially when they are getting on and you know your time may be limited but Oliver could not have a better home to ensure his every need is catered for so I hope he is with you for a long time yet.
