Does your cocker hate having their tail brushed??
« on: May 06, 2012, 08:10:12 PM »
Phoebe and Mia are pretty good at being groomed  :luv: I try hard to groom them at least once a day so they won't get knotty etc, BUT when it comes to doing their tails  >:D oh no the little boogers will try anything to get away so I can't brush/comb their tails. I've always been really gentle when doing it but for some reason they aren't too fond of it >:( Maybe they are super sensitive  :dunno: who know??
Anybody else's cocker like this????

Funny you should say that, milo hates grooming full stop. He is very fond of his tail & when we are having cuddles & i touch it, he turns round & grabs it as if to say , leave it , its mine, he does not like it being touched.

I don't brush either of there tails
But they're not keen on them being stroked. Took bella to vet yesterday though as she's got a small lump on her tail and she let the vet have a prod and poke

Ours are not too bad at all at being groomed, but you are right................when it comes to trying do get the brush to their tails, it is difficult.  I am ok if OH holds them into a standing position.

But not easy hey????

So having never had a cocker with a tail I was baffled at what to do when it came to grooming it

However, Hazel doesn't really like it being combed, but I'm allowed to brush it, briefly, usually followed with a puppy mouth on my hand or the brush  ph34r

Pepper is quite accommodating when having his tail combed or brushed but if he isn't in the mood, he will just sit down which then means I can't get to it properly!

Alfie doesn't mind getting groomed but the tail is a definite no go area! Given that he has a pretty hairy tail (like the rest of him!) I need to grab any sneaky chance I can to give it a brush along the way!

Flo doesnt mind her tail being groomed, and she hates grooming but I think it's because her tail doesn't get the matting the rest of her coat can have .

My two cockers don't mind it (but they love just about any amount of grooming and beautifying!) Sophie collie, Mika, and the collie thats staying with us at the moment don't like having their tails done but I think its because they have so much fur on them its pretty heavy going!!

I've had a wee breakthrough with
this problem ;)
I managed to leave my brush
and combs in Anglesey and had to
make do with a clothes-brush and old
human comb(Not ideal)the clothes-brush
is a really old soft bristle brush and Ellie
quite nicely allowed me to brush her tail
with it, something unheard of before,
so now
it's allocated as her tail brush...hurrah :lol2:

I have much less problem brushing Flo now, by similar circumstances and having to use one of my hair brushes on Flo , just a cheap plastic wide needle  brush... Doesn't seem to pull so much.... Now it's solely for grooming Flo.
