This is for everyone who puts a photo in the remembrance category, I'am honoured that I have been picked to judge this category :luv: as this is very close to my heart :luv: and in my eyes all our rainbow babies are winners for sure :luv:
-
So true Di. It will be a pleasure to see all our gorgeous Rainbow babies. x

Ah Dianne. Congratulations getting such a wonderful category to judge.
I don't envy you your job......as you said, they are all so wonderful.
There will be a few tears looking at this category. Xx
-
Thank you Dianne for paying for my entries with your paypal. I will post it to you tonight. Xxx

Have just read about Higgins. This has brought tears of happiness. That firstly he is a rescue dog but more than that, he is a staffie and used to promote a charity. Wonderful :luv:

And such a handsome boy too :luv:

Think we will enter a couple of photos this time, but need to fathom PayPal first! Lol.
Just wondered........
I know it was decided to be unfeasible to do a calendar for this year, but are people thinking about one for 2014? Could use some of these photos??

Yes it's a possibility :D

I really don't fancy being in the shoes of those judging the puppy category - they are all cracking photos and totally adorable! Good luck :lol2:

I know! I think I dodged a bullet there!! :005:
-
I love looking at all the pictures, but my favourite is the Best Friends category, love seeing all the dogs cuddled up together.
-
Ok - Can you all stop it with the gorgeous puppies now - I can't take any more >:D
Every year it gets me all puppy broody looking at the photos and I have to wait for someone sensible to come along and remind me that I can not possibly have a puppy because Ben would probably eat it or move out in disgust ;) but just for a moment when I see them looking all cuddly and lovely, I have wild fantasies about a small fluffy orange roan puppy...........
(or maybe a blue roan, or perhaps another black one, or possibly one with freckles ph34r)

I have to say that I've been looking at all the entries and they are all gorgeous. But I wanted to say how beautiful the remembrance section is. So very sad but beautiful to remember them. I'm not normally very emotional but I have been crying at that page. Such a wonderful thing to do :luv:

I agree. I had a little cry when I saw the photo of Theis there, so very young :'(. Such a poignant thread :luv:
-
I agree about Theis. One of the most beautiful babies in Heaven. :luv:
It's a lovely competition section and we are so proud of our lost babies. As Poppsie said, they are all winners.

I so echo this. There is such strong feeling of a shared experience here on CoL which seems to show itself when it's most needed, in times of trouble or loss.
They are all such dear dogs and so loved by their owners and families :luv: :luv:
-
I have just been looking at the best friends category - I am going to have to work up to at least 2 dogs eventually!
I also want to thank the organizers for having the In Remembrance section - the photos are a sure way to make me cry as they represent so much love between dogs and owners - but the section lets us do just one more thing for our dogs who have gone - we can post their photo and let others know how much we love and miss them. As others have said it is not about the winning - just gives us a way to say they are not forgotten and to honour them.
-
OOh I've just looked at the cutest pups and gone all funny inside. They are all adorable and I want them all. :D

Can I have them all Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee xxx

I Love all the photos and I think it is beautiful that we all get involved.
xxxxxxx glad I not a judge :005: :005:
-
WOW ! The photos in each category are so gorgeous ......I cant believe the great response and standard of the photos ......I love being a part of this forum , thank you .
-
Just flicked through best friends - love the tennis ball kiss and the birthday cake one! Wonderful :luv:
-
ok, know the competition isn't closed yet, but when do we find out the results? There are done fabulous entries - I'm dying to see how they do :005:

I only found out about Theis yesterday when I was looking through all the photos - I think we were moving home during the period he was so poorly, and totally missed the thread. I'm so sorry, it must have been devastating for you Cassie. I hope that little Liesl has mended your heart just a little.
-
I think everyone is a winner anyway, because they are cocker spaniels. Its given us all a showcase to show off our babies and winning or losing is very subjective.
I just feel so proud in the twelve months I have been on this site to have had such good information, a shoulder to cry on, meet some wonderful people and their dogs.
I know the "MODS" have had to reprimand me a couple of times ;) :shades:, but I'm still here posting and have perhaps learnt to think a little before I post.
I especially want to thank all those who "have" been supportive of me in my quest to have Rosie and especially for all the lovely messages of support for her following her recent scare, which is fortunately now clear.
This year there have been some particularly upsetting times when owners have lost young dogs, I offer my sympathy to you all, but there are three cases which have hit me very hard.
gail with Shadow, Wendy with Rosie and Cassie's poor little Theis. A special mention to Little Ozzy, who is welcome back whenever he wants to stay and Gracie Mae, who were two of the wonderful Blue's that made mr realise there was room in our lives for a third dog, little Rosie, our fighter who we are so proud of. Last but not least, ALL OF YOU, for your unwavering support and friendship.
John, Minnie, Dennis & Rosie :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv: :luv:

You will just have to be patient :shades: It depends how long the judges take to make their minds up - and, as you can imagine, it is a very difficult job ;)

Gail, I'm not a Judge at all, but even though I have 2 of my babies in the bereavement section, I would have , Shadow, Theis and Rosie as joint first. Life was so cruel to all three. :'( :'(

Thanks, Pip :luv:
And yes, we're in a much happier place now. It's a bittersweet contradiction but without having had the experience of his loss we'd never have known the joy of Liesl and I am so very happy that we do and that she's with us now - from bad things good things can come.
I've loved looking at all the piccies in this years competition. I don't envy the judges job a bit as there are some real corkers in there. I particularly love the living room full of cockers and all of their Christmas Stockings Hanging above the fireplace (my idea of lottery win heaven) just fabulous :luv: and also little Teal facing the biggest wabbit ever, too cute for words :luv:

Well that's me all done :luv: whew that was really hard :luv: but I enjoyed every minute of looking at all of your gorguss dogs :luv: I wonder if the other judges are finding it as hard to choose ?? good luck to each and every one of you x x x

Trust me it was the hardest section I had headache before I had finished :005: x x x
-
Phew just finished. Took me an hour (Ms Speedyjudge here but I know what I like) but haven't typed them up into PM yet as wanting OH to look at them all and see if we agree on anything :005: it'll be a first if we do. THey were all hard to do though.

Final reminder to those members who have not yet paid for their entries in the comp - if you don't pay by midday today, I'm afraid your entries will be deleted. Sorry about this but it's really not fair on all the other members who have paid promptly and are patiently waiting for the comp results ;)
-
I am struggling with the Remembrance section, it is very hard trying to judge one snapshot of someone's dog whom is now passed away. As I am sure that each and everyone of them meant so much to their owners.

They are all winners Smokey. I think it's a hard job for you as judges, and everyone understands that.
I think we all agree that the money raised is going to help other dogs, and that's the important part. The competition has given us all a chance to show off our beloved best friends. X

I too struggled with this section :'( it broke my heart that I couldn't make every single one a winner :luv: x x x

I would find it very hard too. They are all equal winners to all of us. I know it may sound silly, but I don"t feel I'm entering a competition but just being given a lovely chance to keep their memory alive.
-
Would it be a possibility just to not declare 'winners' for this category? As a possible alternative, if there is to be a calendar for next year, have a separate remembrance page where little snapshots of all the doglets could be included?
-
That was my sentiment exactly Mel, I had mixed feelings about the 'competition' element but for a charity quid it was an opportunity to bring George's memory to the fore.

Exactly Maurice. xx

We could declare this a "Not for Competition" class as long as all participants are happy with that (have added a poll to this post so people can decide)
-
Jane, is it only the entrants allowed to vote on this?
-
Jane, is it only the entrants allowed to vote on this?
Yes I think that's probably best as they are the ones most affected by the vote

Yes, thank you.
-
If the answer to the poll is yes, I'll be pm'ing the judges of remembrance with another class to judge. We have a few classes that could do with a little more help as the results are currently very spread and this would give us some 'deciders' ;) :D
-
Jane
I'm happy with that. They are all gorgeous
-
I did not enter because our rainbow babes are not cockers. If these photos were moved to their own section in the photo bit and open to all past babes I would gladly donate to the charity as before
Lorna

What a nice suggestion Lorna. Remembrance is remembrance, after all, irrespective of breed. X

I've just voted "yes" but PLEASE, PLEASE can we have a COL calendar this year with the Remembrance entrants having their own little montage? I can't think of a more lovely tribute to them all.

Just to say a big "thank-you"
to all who entered the competition.
I have loved looking at your photos
of cockers past and present :luv:
and to The Mods too! :clapping:

-
I have voted yes - not to have a winner for the remembrance section - I just wanted to honour Jessie not to try and win - and it would be great to have a page in the calendar for them - but I know the calendar is a big undertaking.
-
I was really touched when I saw the 'Remembrance' section in the competition because whilst I am still finding life very difficult without the Woofalump, any chance to talk about him or post his picture is very welcome.
I agree wholeheartedly that a winner shouldn't be chosen, all our babies are special and very much loved and missed, so I have voted yes.
-
I misread the poll sorry i voted No I mean Yes i dont mind not picking a winner at all they are all winners I have now changed my vote :D
Gail

Me, too ;)

Thanks for the suggestions re using the remembrance photos in a calendar - this is something we will think about later (once we've recovered from the photo comp :D). In the meantime, if anyone would like to post a tribute to their past dogs or other pets, we have the Rainbow Bridge board which isn't restricted to Cockers or even dogs: http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?board=82.0

Maureen, thats why its better for cocker chat on here than Facebook, you don't get a Plumber to rewire your house do you :shades: :005: ;) The ones that have left don't know what they are missing

Congratulations to all the worthy winners, I enjoyed looking at every photograph. Well done to all the poor judges and to the mods who have taken the time to organise the comp, sort the results and do all the technical bits that go with it.

Just did a complete trawl through all the photos - all amazing :luv:.
Thanks to the judges to my first in the outtakes category, Brodie is going to be delighted :005: :luv: and for the joint third in the action photos. So many super photos, and the remembrance thread was so very poignant :luv:
Well done, everyone!
-
All the photo entries were great, have loved looking at them all. I don't know how the judges managed to choose between them! ph34r
Delighted to see a rosette next to one of my entries! :luv: Shocked!
But it has been fun, and the main thing, that there has been some money raised for two very good causes. :D
-
Thank you to the organisers and judges of this. So lovely to see our babies all looking adorable, from cuddly puppies (no, I'm not puppy broody, I'm not...) to our beloved rainbow angels. I'm over the moon with Penny's rosette as well.

You could have an imaginary dog....... I did for a whole year before we got Roxy. She was called Madge, was very well behaved, never barked, chased cats, wee'd on the floor and wouldn't have dreamed of rolling in fox pooh!! She was perfect..... Then I met our little golden girl who did (and still does) some of the naughty things, but it was worth the wait and I would change her for the world :luv:
I know I sound like a mad woman but I'm happy, I could be sensible and miserable! :005:
ETA the topic of Madge only came up when I was talking to one of my friends or my sister, who both own dogs, especially if theirs had been mischievous! I didn't every "take" her out in public, if you get my drift - I'm not completely mad! :o
