Due to reading other threads on here, I tried Indy with pilchards in tomato sauce, needless to say, she loves them, though I don't love her breath afterwards.
She has them 1 or 2 times a week as half of one of her normal meals, (she's fed twice a day), can you give them more often, or just keep them as a weekly treat?
I'm also going to try her with the ones in sunflower oil, though I suspect they'll result in stinky breath too. <a href="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZNxmk696LBGB%2526i%253D36%252F36%255F1%255F59%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank">

Beau has pilchards in tomato sauce about once a week, I did try letting him have them more often but then he started refusing his normal meals so we went back to once a week - it's his Saturday Special :005:

I'm a once or twice a week person, I couldn't stand the smell any more than that ph34r
Personally I wouldn't feed the sunflower ones too much I think the sunflower can act as a bit of a laxative effect :005: So try and drain quite a bit of the oil off.

Yep a couple of times a week here too. Blue has both pilchards & sardines in tomato sauce. One meal he has mixed in with his dried food and another meal I mix with pasta. Unfortunately he stinks if his ears go in the bowl ::)

Like Lisa, I feed Fern pilchards in tomato sauce with a raw egg and shell crunched up about once every 7-10 days. I can't stand the strinky breath more often than that either .

Isn't egg shell quite sharp! Sorry to ask a silly question but what's the benefit (just curious)

Calcium and minerals. Fern is BARF fed so is quite used to crunching raw bones. A dogs digestive system is quite different to ours and eggshell and raw bones are easily digested providing the dog crunches them up well :D .

Mine have sardines or pilchards once a week, usually on Saturday mornings as a treat. Sometimes Alfie will have them more than once though if I forget to take his barf out of the freezer :005: They also have them with a raw egg a la Happydog :D

Jersey gets two sardines every day mixed in with her food to encourage her to eat ::)

Coco has either pilchards or sardines in tomato sauce about once a week - also with an egg on top. Can't persuade her to eat the shell though as she is a fussy little so and so ::)
