Another BARF thread...!
« on: April 17, 2007, 11:26:40 AM »
I know there have been loads lately but could a BARF cocker mummy help me out...

Poppy is on JWB for breakfast and tea.
I've been thinking about giving her chicken wings for a while now.
To start off with should I replace her tea a couple of times a week with 2 chicken wings, would 2 be enough to replace a meal...

At the moment she gets a raw egg / pilchards (alternate days) mixed in with her tea.

Depends on the size of the dog.  :D

My boys weigh around 15kg and have 3 wings if they are a good size, or 4 or 5 if they are a bit on the small side.

Some people weigh their food; some people don't.  :-\ It's whatever works for the individual.  ;) I weighed everything to begin with as I wanted to make sure I got it right.  ph34r Now I can pretty much go by eye. Mine have around 250grams of chicken wings for a meal, which is usually 3.  :D

When I changed Fern to BARF six months ago, I bit the bullet and changed her straight over in one go. One day it was tinned dog food and mixer, the next day it was  about 150-200g raw AMP mince and whizzed veggies with two chicken wings for pud. I only feed once a day. She weighed just under 12Kg and weighs about 14Kg now.

Poppy's had her first chicken wings...

She played with the first one for over half an hour, running round and throwing it up before she ate it, played with the second one for a few minutes to, the third one stayed buried for 20 mins before she dug it back up to eat!
