Marrow bones
« on: May 18, 2010, 09:58:58 AM »
This may sound silly but i have given Hattie marrow bones in the past, but i am never sure what to do when she start to chip away at the actual bone.  Is it safe for her to do this, do you let your dogs eat the bone, will it not cause problems.  I usually take it off her and scrape out the marrow. Do you leave them to eat all of the bone?  These are raw bones.

I think Marrow bones are to hard for them to wholly eat.

I usually do what you do. I think chewing to much on them could break their teeth. Also to hard to digest.

lamb and pork Rib Bones are totally eaten. Also chicken carcasses are OK.

I generally let her nibble at the edges to work her way into the marrow, but wouldn't leave her to eat the whole bone.... once she's got out as much as she can, I push the rest of the marrow to the ends for her!  :D
