Hi  

I've just given both mine a bath - or rather a shower in the bath.  

Pip, an orange roan with the typical undercoat, is dry very quickly.  Fletch, black who is half working and has no undercoat, is still very wet and as always takes ages to get dry.

Why, with no undercoat, does Fletch's hair hang on to the water much more than dogs with an undercoat?

I'm just curious.......

Not sure Helen, but I agree with you. The blacks, however thick/thin their coats are, always seem to take longer to dry. Perhaps black hair is more absorbant  :roll:

Yep, Tia too is black (and more working than not) and takes ages to dry!

Just one really stupid (sorry) question  :lol: .
Don't you blowdry your dogs? I always do and it takes about 30 min (at maximum) for my dogs to dry that way. Even the dark blueroan with heavy coat.

Katina, yes I do blow dry mine, but the blacks still seem to take longer  :D

Hi,
I just put Tia, a couple of towels and the kids in a big pile and let cuddling do the job!

Unfortunately, the hair dryer is one of the few things my two are scared of (no doubt the groomer uses one), probably because I never use one myself they never got used to it!

My two are towel dried as far as you can towel dry a sponge (well that's what their paws feel like), and then they spend 10 minutes racing round the house like lunatics before settling down :lol:

I blowdry Indie and she loves it, she thinks its heavenley :D   Shes not too keen on the noise at first, but after a minute when she realises its lovely and warm, she stands there no problem, and when you switch it off, she hits me with her paw :twisted:  

Funnily enough when watching that Faking It I found the drying machine they had hilarious :lol:  it was like a large glass case that blew warm air on to them 8)

I have a professional hairdryer(designed for dogs with heavy coat) so I think thats why it only takes so little time when I dry my dogs :).
And yes, all mine go crazy after I have bathed them  :lol: ..

Yeah I saw that dryer - what a great idea - but they cost a bomb though
