Beri our working cocker is missing. He wandered up onto the A19 main road from our house and a lady from the village saw someone look at his collar and put him in the car. She assumed they would bring him to us.......that was 2 hours ago. We have told dogs lost and rung the local warden and the RSPCA, I do hope they have not decided to keep him.
I cant rest or sit still and w don't know what to do.......Bramble his brother is looking for him

I have sent dogs lost the info......but they are really busy at the moment. I have sent a pic as well. If they were kind enough to stop and help him they must realise we must be out of our minds with worry

Beri is till not home.......I have spoken to the lady in the village for more info. He ran out of our track onto the main road, two cars stopped one elderly man and the other a young girl they stopped the traffic and caught him. Then one of them put him in their car, she said they both looked like really nice people who were concerned about him. I think his tag must have come off and they didn't know what to do apart from take him off the road.
To make things worse I have just rung Pet Track about his microchip and my vet didn't change it apparently from the breeder so he is still showing the breeders address in Lincolnshire. I am unable to contact them as both numbers I have are disconnected ! I hope that I can change the info or the vet can but not until Tuesday !!!
I hope who ever has him comes to the village tomorrow and has a drive around, everyone knows Beri....
I can't do anything or sit still I am so worried about where he is ?

I would put some posters up around the village in case they do come back, it's worth a go, fingers crossed he comes back very soon x

Everything crossed that you are reunited before long. Have you checked with the local police to see if anyone has spoken to them, even if they've been told it's not a police matter(here we're always referred to Dog Warden). They may have a contact name if they have :huh:
It could be the person who picked him up still has him, as being BH can't get hold of anyone.

My heart dropped when I read this - everyone's worst nightmare :'( :'(. I agree with what's been said - poster everywhere and contact all local vets if you haven't already. I hope the description of those who took him are right and they are looking to reunite.

:banana: :banana: :banana: We have just been to pick Beri up. He was only down the road in the next village, happy as anything in bed with the couple who found him :lol2: :lol2:
I spoke to the police who had had a call from the couple who had him.....and yes his tag had come off so a lesson learnt the hard way there then. We decided we had to go and get him straight away, so after a telling off and stressing to him how easily he could have been coming home in a bin bag !! there are lots of cuddles and I can finally eat and go to bed.
Thank you all for your support today and kind words. It is my birthday tomorrow and I can now enjoy it. I have been a bit busy lately and have not posted much on COL so nice to know you are all there xxxx

Have been slogging through the annual school reports for my P3's and been checking in on the thread from time to time. Have just finished the last one for tonight and thought I'd check in to see if there was any update on Beri so am just delighted to hear that he is safely back home with you.
I posted last week about my boy Alfie escaping through our front door (when my husband was at home) and I just happened to be driving home when he came down the road towards the roundabout near where we live, so it was amazing how I happened to be in the right place at the right time or goodness knows where he would have ended up so can imagine the day you've had trying to track down Beri.

Delighted to hear he is back home safe and sound....I have been on and off COL all night in the hope that good news would be posted.
Have to say brought a huge smile to my face when I saw the update....you can breathe a sigh of relief.

Thanks everyone......I have never felt the way I did yesterday, so helpless and unable to function at all. Not something I ever want to feel again. Just seeing his cheeky little face this morning is the best birthday present ever. And new tags will be ordered today.
The couple who were looking after him had three Labradors and said they would look after Beri anytime .........what a lucky chap. It will also be a trip to B&Q this morning for some more heavy duty wire for our garden hedge. Bramble & Holly never venture far away but Beri is a mischievous little monkey and will sneak out if he can. He has never ventured up to the busy A19 however in the 15 years we have lived here. The thought still keeps crossing my mind that we could have been bringing him home in a bin liner from the road.

Our collie once took off after a car on a walk many years ago, a couple took her in, rang the number on the tag (landline) and as everyone was out looking for her it just rang out, so instead of holding onto her, phoning the dog warden etc they just let her back out onto a busy road!! We found her absolutely shattered in a bus shelter but luckily unharmed.
Just a thought - I've just bought 6 collar tags on Ebay as mine loose theres from time to time so plenty in back up. It worked out soooo much cheaper than other online stores, I think it was £6.50 for all, engraved, inc postage.

So pleased to hear your news that Beri is home. I updated our details in March at Crufts Pet Log had a stand there. WE are going to Norfolk for a holiday and I buy just cheap dog tags and get them printed with holiday details and mobile phone numbers. Enjoy your BBQ today have a lovely birthday.

Great news, really glad Beri is home. Sounds like he has been really lucky and has been found by people who love dogs as much as you. I did have a giggle that in the short space of time he had managed to wangle his way onto the couple's bed!! And an offer of a dog sitter too!! One very lucky dog.

As an owner of siblings, I know how bonded they become and when one is absent, just how much the other misses them.
After losing an ID tag, I ordered these. They are quite expensive but do give peace of mind as they won't fall off.

Carole has been keeping you up to date on Beri and I would like to convey my own thanks to all those on the cockersonline family for your very kind thoughts, Sat night was one of my worst nightmares I had visions of never getting him back but thankfully the nice people that looked after him were dog people just like you all, I tell everyone that I meet who has a cocker about this forum and you have just proved what a lovely family you are, thank your from me, Beri, Bramble and Holly oh and her who must be obayed my lovely wife Carole.
