Can anyone in the area please keep a look out for Lance, a black working cocker who went missing this evening in the area surrounding Braeside Avenue. He headed south towards the woods. He escaped from a car during a transport run so this area is not known to him. He is nervous and will not approach strangers.
Please PM me or call 07736834909 if you have information. He is wearing a collar with tag and is microchipped. He had a slip lead but has most likely got out of it.
Jo :-\

Please put lance onto doglost ASAP with a photo or send to admin@doglost.co.uk

Everything crossed he turns up.

Il keep everything crossed he is found safe soon :luv:

I'm trying to coax OH to run daycare for me on his day off so I can come and search. I wont be able to sleep tonight. I have no doubts he can survive on his own but its all those roads that worry me. :'(
-
Oh no, I wish I could do something to help - I really hope he's found quick :'( :'(

Hope he is found safe and well soon :-\
-
OMG, this is just awful. After all he's been through. And what a miserable night. Hopefully he's stayed in the woods and kept dry, and even more hopefully he'll recognise Fiona's voice and his pal Duggie tomorrow.
Either that or maybe he'll appear back on Fiona's door step - you never know .............
Everything crossed.
-
Everything crossed for this little man :'( Stay safe Lance and may you be found safe & well
-
OMG poor little man.......I wish I were even a bit close to help as such a good job was done Fiona by you
-
I have no doubts he can survive on his own but its all those roads that worry me. :'(
He absolutely hates the rain, so he won't be running around near the roads, he will be hiding out somewhere keeping dry. Although, even better would be if someone has found him and taken him in overnight.
-
So sorry to hear that Lance is missing :'( I am sure with all the effort that is being put in he will turn up safe and well tommorow ;)
-
Fingers & paws crossed here for Lance's safe return.
-
Poor Lance :'( if he's still missing in the morning I'll drive through to Glasgow to help look for him.

Thinking of you and hoping is home soon
-
I'm heading over soon to search, but I have no knowledge of the area at all. There is nobody else out looking for him, although Nicola may be able to go over. Is there anyone who can help?
-
Possibly got some good news. The previous owner used to walk him in the woods in this area when visiting a friend so he may try and go to the friends house. She and the friend are out looking for him this morning so fingers crossed they have some luck.
Really want to get posters put up to spread the word. Crossposted to half a dozen forums too and a contact has emailed the whole vet school which iis closeby.
:-\
-
I hope he is found safe and well this morning. I've got work today or I'd be up to help in a heart beat.
-
Just seen this, hoping and praying he is found safe and well
-
Oh no poor Lance....fingers crossed for good news today :-*

Praying for a safe return. Good luck people helping this lad find safety again. Sarah

Also praying for a safe return, have crossposted to NESSR.
Just a thought have you contacted the local council/dog warden? Also the pound which they take lost dogs too?
Kate

Thanks Kate. The dog warden, pound, local vets and police all know and as well as the entire vet school.

any news at all????
-
No news. Just heard from Nicola. Fiona and her have been out looking for the last few hours and there's no sign. Nobody has reported any sightings yet either. :-\
-
Nothing I'm afraid :-\ Fiona had already been walking around for ages when I got there and we re-did the woods and walked way up beyond them along some residential streets, through more parks and more woods around a lake and then all the way back. We stopped dog walkers etc. but nobody has seen anything. The thing with that area is that he could have gone in any one of doG knows how many directions, the woods have lots of paths leading in and out in all directions. There are several main roads nearby and on the other side of those more open ground and then it's just open countryside and the we went there are paths leading off in every direction as well so until there's a sighting of him so he can be pinpointed to a specific area it's a bit like looking for a needle in a haystack :-\
-
I'm just back, I searched the whole of the woods where he was last seen, then when Nicola arrived we searched a lot of the surrounding area, asking people if they had seen him, but he could be anywhere. There are fields for miles, and it would have been impossible for us to cover the whole area. :-\
I might go back over in the morning and search Mugdock Country Park which is a couple of miles past the area, and has moors where dogs could easily get lost, but hopefully there will be at least one sighting by then.
If anyone else is willing to help, please let us know.
(Posted at same time as Nicola)
-
Can't help I'm afraid, but really hope you find him tomorrow - would it be feasible to put an alert out over the local radio (is that radio Clyde or someone else)?.

Ditto - hope he is found soon - silly boy running off, he must be pretty anxious by now. :'( If you can get it on the radio that would be great ;) Someone must have seen him :dunno:
-
Oh no - this is awful - sorry I can be no help :'(
Really hope he is found soon
-
I can't help with the search as I'm too far away. But if i can help with anything else, like sending faxes etc I can do this whilst at work!
Just let me know - hoping for his safe return soon!
L&O x
-
If anyone has contacts on the radio then please do as them to do a quick announcement. I seem to remember it took about a dozen people to call Forth One when Arwen was missing before they gave in....
I just wish someone would report a sighting.
-
Oh pants, logged on as soon as I got in from work hoping for positive news :'(
Hope there is a sighting soon .
-
If he is not found by Saturday I will head over. Do we have posters up in the area? If not I will do some and post them all over the place. I'll also contact Stirling dog warden as I think this will be the neighbouring one if he wanders too far. I would then obviously be able to get him if they did get him.
-
If anyone has the number for the local radio let me know as I for one am happy to inundate them with calls til they broadcast something to help.
I still have everything here crossed that he is found soon safe and sound
-
Carolin, his former owner did some posters and put them up, although they say he is called Jasper on them, I think he would respond to either name. I think Doglost were doing some, but not sure how that works, who puts them up, etc.
The phone number for Radio Clyde 1 is 0141 565 2200, here's hoping something comes of it.
-
Sorry there's not been any good news :'(. If someone is heading out to look for him tomorrow and passing through my way, I will be more than happy to join in the hunt x
-
Can anyone do a face to face visit to local resuces just in case - one of our local ones (now shut thankfully) use to say they didn't have a lost dog when they did...
My fingers and toes are crossed for this wee boy and hope he is found safe soon.
-
I could certainly go to the rescue centres, but I think because Lance is with SRS, the rescues will contact someone if he is handed in. Also, the police and dog wardens are aware of it. He's microchipped too, so he would be scanned if he was there, but I may give them a call in the morning and see if they have any other suggestions for what to do.
Jean1234's brother is going to try to get him a mention on local radio, as he works there, although they generally don't do that type of thing. I just wish someone would spot him somewhere and give us a lead. :-\
-
The volunteer who's house/car he got away from is putting posters up tonight. The DogLost posters are great. Here's the link.
http://www.doglost.co.uk/PreviewTemplate.aspx?data=BR%2fw8oARY61CTi4XGBwEMrFqss3_3520g06
If we have no success before the weekend then I'll be going over for both days to search. an pick you up on the way Jenny if you are free. It highly unlikely we'll just happen to come across him so getting sightings of where he is are the most important thng just now. I've been bubbling away on and off all day. He was supposed to be coming to stay with my parents :'(

Yeah I'll be free over the weekend as well Jo, I'll try and print out some of the posters too. This is awful, I really hope we get a sighting soon :'(. Massive :bigarmhug: to everyone involved :-*
-
Joanne I sincerely hope there's some news on him soon. Good luck with the search.

I'll join you for the morning shift on Saturday. Need to be back in Stirling for 3 but still gives a good 6 hours.

I can't make it through to Glasgow again tomorrow as I have work to do plus a college essay due in on Friday which I need to tweak, tidy up and reference etc. but if he's not been found by Friday (although fingers crossed he will have been) I can head through again then, although without a sighting it's hard to know what to do as you just have to pick an area at random and he could be 10 miles away from there :-\
-
I feel so helpless down here in London.
Is there anything we can all put onto our Facebook/Twitter etc pages - you never know who may see it?????
-
The poster is good, but he no longer has a tag on as his former owner took it off yesterday, he is still wearing a collar though. He also had a red slip lead on, and I looked everywhere for it, hoping to at least find that, but didn't.
It's so difficult to know where to actually search without a sighting, I noticed the woods are directly under a flight path, and when he was staying here he was scared of loud noises, so possibly would have gone further away from the area. The West Highland Way starts near there, so he really could be miles away by now. :-\
-
I hope it is OK - but I have just put the poster on my facebook page. I don't know anyone in the Glasgow area but maybe some friends or friends of friends will do.
It is worth a try.
-
I have crossposted this on the Glasgow Gumtree Site
http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/03/48066103.html
I hope he is found really soon xx
-
Hope there is some sightings soon + he is found safe and well.
Have also put the doglost poster on my facebook as I have some friends/family over that way.
xx
-
I've been looking at the area on Google Maps and there's quite a few golf clubs about - have they been given posters? I see what Nicola means about it being a needle in a haystack :-\
-
I don't know no any one in Glasgow but have posted to my face book in case any of my friends can pass it on. I will also see what I can do to hound the Radio station suggested!
Here's to good news tomorrow!
L&O x
Also just sent a message to Radio Clyde through their website - hopefully if enough people hound them we may get him mentioned! Here's hoping!!
-
Don't know if you have any posters up here but had this reply on my facebook:
"You should put a poster up at Easterton Stables (Mugdock Country Park), most of the riders drive through Milngavie from Glasgow to get there... hope you find him, good luck x"
xx
-
Am taking a laminated poster to the Fort William end of the West Highland Way tomorrow-some folk walk top to bottom. And will contact WHWay walking companies and the accommodation they use too.We have to hold onto the fact that he has survived with very little in the past-and he has started off on this journey a fit healthy wee dog...
-
Thanks everyone, every little helps.... as Tesco say.
Going to buy lots of plastic wallets tomorrow in preparation. He is out there somewhere!
-
OMG how did I miss this ph34r :o Poor Lance, I can hardly believe it :o I can't really do anything to help from such a distance, but just want to wish everyone the best of luck in their search for him. How awful that he's missing after only just starting to experience some love in his life. I pray to doG that he is found soonl
-
Have tweeted the poster to all famous people on twitter with thousands of followers asking them to pass it on including Stephen Fry. Long shot, but that might work. I have also emailed my colleague in Scotland (who is from Glasgow) to pass the poster link on to everyone he knows in Glasgow. Will contact the radio station too now.
-
My friend teaches through there so is going to put posters up in the school and ask the teenagers to all keep their eyes peeled.
-
Just sent this to Clyde 1 - hope this may help:
My name is Kerry Smith and I am writing this on behalf of Lance - a working cocker spaniel that has been lost in the Glasgow area:
http://www.doglost.co.uk/PreviewTemplate.aspx?data=BR%2fw8oARY61CTi4XGBwEMrFqss3_3520g06
I live in London but am an active member on a cocker spaniel internet forum.
Lance is a very special rescue dog who needs to be found.......fast......
Many of us have posted his details on facebook and lots of twittering is going on at present about this very special man.
This really could become a huge rescue operation. Anything you could do would be excellent.
I really do hope you can help.
Kerry Smith
-
Just had a thought - is there any local newspapers that could put in a last minute press release?? Just a long shot..........
-
Just emailed all the local golf clubs as they cover a huge area that we cant actively search.
Keep looking at the satellite view on google maps and feling sick because there is just so much green space. The moors to the west just go on and on and on...... :'(
-
I've just sent an email to their newsroom - here are the email addresses I used:

:-\ I don't know how I missed this :shades:

I just wanted to say good luck with any search for Lance today.
I will be thinking about you and keeping everything crossed.
-
Not read the whole thread as to what you have done
But I have emailed Perth and Fife dog wardens so that if they hear anything - and the more areas that know can keep an eye and ear out
Hope he is found real soon :luv:
well done to all that have been out and going out looking for him - sorry I can't do much else

Am keeping everything crossed for Lance - hope you find the little guy soon :luv:

Good luck all those looking for him - really hope he's found soon :003:
-
Nothing new to report today. Emailed yet more businesses in the local area to spread the word. It would make such a difference if we had a sighting.
-
Good luck today :luv: Jo and Belle
-
I'm online all day so if theres anything I can do email/internet wise, just let me know.
Really hope someone sees him soon

Sorry there's still no news, hopefully today's the day things turn our way - let me know if there's anything else needs doing x

Are there any walking clubs that may tramp the moors? If so can an e mail be sent to them?
-
Anything I can do to help from up here? I keep checking praying her has turned up :'(
-
Any news??
-
Any news??
I was just wondering myself
-
just a thought someone said there is airfields near does anyone know any flying clubs with gyro things that may operate the area
-
My friend hubby flies a microlite - maybe I could ask him to have a check as it is surely within his distance from Stirling??
-
No news from me, I'm afraid. I spent a while traipsing round the quiet areas of Mugdock Park, calling in vain. :'( I didn't stay for as long as yesterday as I am just too unwell and exhausted, plus I had a doctor's appointment late afternoon.
I can't go out searching tomorrow as I have a meeting with work as regards whether I still have a job or not, then to the doc's for more blood tests.
Is anyone else going to be going out?
-
No news I'm afraid folks. A few people on the SRS forum have been busy postering and contacting more people. They've contacted lots of pubs and hostels used by walkers on the West Highland Way which starts in the moorland just to the west.
I'm wanting to set up a search team for the weekend so if anyone if free and able to help at anytime then please get in touch so we can all try and cover different areas. The best time to search in hope of a sighting are dusk and dawn but general searching and postering can be done anytime.
There was a lurcher who went missing in September last year from Kelvingrove, a little bit further into Glasgow. He was seen once or twice a week if that in various parks. In January, 4 months later he approached a dog walker for food and was caught (she knew who he was). He was happily reunited with his owner and has been fine every since. There is always reason to hope!
I'm investigating using humane live traps.....
-

-
I've noticed from the google maps that there's a quarry near to where he disappeared but I can't find any details about it
So sorry there's been no news :'(. Once again I will be free if anyone's passing by tomorrow - I feel so helpless :-\.
Will definitely be up for the weekend search x
-
oops pressed the wrong button..I think the microlite is a good idea what does everyone else think he could see a large area
-
I've done a Google search for farms round about the area and am contacting the farmers, in the hope that he may have turned up at one, and they haven't seen the posters, or have been too busy to do anything about him.
You never know. :dunno:
-
oops pressed the wrong button..I think the microlite is a good idea what does everyone else think he could see a large area
Anne, I think anything's worth a chance :-*. I guess if he's gotten out into the fields or moors there's a chance he could be spotted from air?
-

I think it's worth a go Mrs K a long shot I know ! we are all wishing and hoping he is found soon and if it is moorland it's very open to see from the air xx thankyou Jenny xx

Are there any walking clubs that may tramp the moors? If so can an e mail be sent to them?
The Ramblers Association have walks going on every weekend. Shall I e-mail them? What is the best descriptive link to refer them to? (so they know what they're looking for.)

I live at the end of The West Highland Way, as a long shot, I could go up and ask people doing the walk if they've spotted him.

Lance is doing fine and is having a day or two to rest before moving to a foster home. He's slept most of the day so I guess he was a busy boy for 48 hours!

Thanks Sheryl
Very interesting reading !!

Such a relief. I too was rather emotional seeing the update - can't imagine how you were Jo/Fiona.
And typically it sounds like Lance was none the wiser.
I did suggest that a dog he knew would find him, though I reckoned that would be Duggie's destiny.
-
Divine intervention there I'd say! For his lead to get caught at the very spot/time when dogs he knew would be along-that could only be one wee soul that helped him-thanks Gari :luv: :luv:

I expected Duggie to find him, or him to come out of hiding when he saw Duggie. :D

I never thought of that. :'( :'( :'( :luv: :luv: :luv: Best dog in the world.

His lead had caught between 2 paving slabs and he couldnt move so sat down and waited. It was at the very spot where dogs belonging to a friend of his previous owner stopped for a pee every night -and when they went out that eve there he was waiting! Now thats some coincidence!! :luv:
-
I am so so Glad bless his cockers socks..I think I ve missed a thread somewhere I thought Lance had been rehomed going from Fionas

He was rehomed about 6 weeks ago, but it didn't work out unfortunately. I'm sure there will be a perfect forever home found for him soon.
