Title: Average Weight?
Post by: lizzy on January 08, 2005, 10:13:56 PM
I was just wondering what the ' average ' weight of a female cocker was. I had Molly weighed at the vets yesterday and he said she was 12kg, she seems to have slimmed down recently, she looks lovely, but I was a bit worried she was on the skinny side.

My vet gave her a clean bill of health and said she was a credit to me which was nice!

I weighed Lottie this week as she turned 9 months and she weighs 9.3Kgs. I realise that she still has some growning to do though.

I'm not sure what the average is for an adult cocker, but then I think there is quite a variation depending on build etc. Lottie is quite small framed so I can't see her being a large, muscled dog.

I would think 12Kgs sounds about right for an adult :)

I'm no expert (see my recent post for proof! ;) ), but I think that sounds about right.  Don't the books say about 12.5 - 14.5 kgs as a guide? What a lovely thing for the vet to say, congratulations. :D

Lizzie sorry don't know the answer to your question but that was a lovely compliment from your vet and so you should feel proud of your Molly :D

It depends on the size of the cocker. I have small cockers who weigh about 10kg. Cockers are all different so you can't just judge by weight alone. I have a very skinny one and one thats just right.
