pick your photo and hover over the left.  A menu will appear. click on SHARE.  Another menu will appear, click on the last box  IMG.  the word COPIED will appear.  then on COL open a reply box as normal and right click PASTE as you would normally

Then something like this appears. A MUCKY young lady  :rofl1:

Hello, just joined the forum.
My name is Ian and I have a 2-1/2 year old working cocker bitch.
She is my first dog and I have trained her primarily for beating.
Look forward to future discussions as from what I have read so far you seem a friendly bunch :)

Ps

Hi and welcome to the forum  :D. We have 4 cockers, 3 workers and 1 show type who is my beating dog.  All 4 have their challenges and appear to have taken over our lives!

Thanks pearly,
Have seen one and heard of a few other show type that work.
Out of interest do your workers work as well and do you see any difference in working style and or temperament??

Hi Ian,

Yes, completely different!  All four are to be fair!

The show type isn't as brave but has a great nose and will go into cover if there is a bird (or deer) in there.  She will work for 6 hours and 6-13 drives depending on which shoot we are on.....doesn't retrieve and doesn't chase.  Has taken me almost 6 years to get her to stop at distance but the Gamekeepers love her as she just gets on with it (do have to untangle her from brambles  :shades:).  Pearl worked in excess of 20 days over the season.

The 6 year old working  cocker is a bit of a pro, being rehomed to us in a June she's had a great season retrieving c 20 runners we wouldn't have had in the bag otherwise  ;) on the local shoot.  She's graceful and hard hunting although does it so quietly it's hard to tell where she is at times!

The other 2 are 2 years old and work in progress.  One tends to self employ so not been out at all this season - she is starting to calm down so hopeful the summer will see her steady and reliable enough to work.

Then there is Coral.  Hard hunting.  Brave.  Fast and bold.  She now has a good stop but I'm not confident that there is game about she would listen so definitely a work in progress  ;)

Thanks, sounds like you have a brilliant bunch there. Isn't it a joy to watch your dog doing what it was bred for and getting through a shoot day without any issues. I have shot one way or another for fourty years but I now enjoy working the dog more than pulling the trigger. Funny how life turns out isn't it.

Completely agree Ian - I don't shoot and Mark chooses not to, often, even though he has a full gun on the local shoot!  These cockers seem to take over  ;)
