Jessie's 4th Gotcha Day!
« on: April 14, 2017, 03:14:19 PM »
Can't believe we've had her for four years now.  :lol2:
She's more relaxed at home but still finds it very hard to go out for even a short walk because she's so frightened, shakes with fear, and circles in front of my feet. We tend to stay in the garden where she is very happy.
Here she is on the left with her older sister Maggie, waiting for their supper  :005:

Very cute dogs!  :luv: Are you getting any help for her anxiety? I can recommend a very good book if you want. Nicole Wilde wrote a book called "Help for Your Fearful Dog". It has one section on fear in general and another section for advice on how to train specific problems. It helped me a lot when rehabilitating my nervous dog  :021:

Jessie is very frightened of people. She Is 10 times better than when we got her. When frightened she circles all the time. So when she does go out she circles on my feet as I walk. If the back door has blown to when she is in the garden she will circle. Anyone coming to the house she will try and hide behind me if I sit down. 7 years in a puppy farm has done so much damage to her. Maggie was in a farm for 7 years too but she got used to people after about 18 months.
I will get the book that you mention Mari . She relies a lot on Maggie but poor Maggie is 13.5 and completely deaf very poor sight and when awake if she dioes not know I am near will cry and cry then bark.

Oh my godness! 7 years! You must have done a wonderful job with both of them to see improvement at all. Now they have a safe and happy home, that's the most important thing  :021:  My girl was still a puppy when I got her, and even then it was tough to show her the world is safe. Good job and happy gotcha day  :clapping:
