Haven't been here a lot lately but some members will still remember me and my dogs Saartje and Teun. I have the sad message to tell you that our dog Teun has passed away. He had a very rare neurological disease from which most dogs recover, idiopathic polyradiculoneuropathy. We where taking care of him from February 23Th, after being hospitalised for 5 days, this disease can go futher to the lungs, didn't happen to him.
After he came home he was completely paralysed, neck, back, paws and tail. He was like a ragdoll. Couldn't stand or walk, eat or drink and pee. We had to push his bladder so he would pee, couple of times a day. Turn him over every couple of hours and each hour drop his eyes because he couldn't blink. 24/7. It was very intense and very heavy for us. A physiotherapist came over to our house twice a week and we did exercises with him 3 times a day. Very slowly he got back some movement in his neck and back.
Sadly we found out on the 1 of may that he had a second disease; Masticatory muscle myositis. Because of the last disease we had to let him go. On Tuesday the second of may the vet came over to our house and put him to sleep. He was only 7 years, 6 months and 1 day. We are very sad...
