A bundle of fur snuggling under my coat
Days spent strolling across miles of shoreline
Holes dug, stones buried, treasures found
The wind blowing ears back as we circle old stones
Nose to the ground on the quest for a trail
Gazing across moorland to distant horizons
Sitting still beside streams watching for ripples and risings
Assisting the master catch trout for our supper
Helping the mistress stitch together bright threads
Many days of joy and moments of laughter
Now just a memory held precious, in love.
