Hi everyone! This is Jane with Kaiser
« on: July 20, 2007, 12:40:23 PM »
What a brilliant site this is!  I have learnt so much.  Kaiser is 11 weeks old will be allowed out into the real world tomorrow. We had him from 9 weeks old and he has settled in extremely well (8 hours sleep at night ) From what I have learnt he is a typical Cocker - complete with mad moments  and wonderful biting techniques  >:D.  I am already totally besotted with him and I think my 3 cats are feeling a bit left out.  He has started to bark at one of my cats who up until now was friendly towards him - does anyone have any advice?

Just to add another colour, I have Bracken a Chocolate Roan and jasmine a lab type cross.  We also have a cat called Hermes.  I would say that your dog wants to play with the cat.. but i'm guessing the cat isn't interested.

I'm sure at some point the cat will put said puppy in its place. Ours did  :005:

Hi Jane, welcome to COL.  I have a blue roan cocker called Melody who will be 2 in November and we have a cat called Mostyn.  Mostyn usually stays well clear of Melody and Melly can't figure out why the cat won't play with her  ::)

Is your pup play barking or growling at the cat?

Hi and welcome to COL  :D

I have 3 working cockers, Alfie, 18 months, Tilly, 2 and a half and Rodaidh, 7 months plus an almost 2 year old cat, Milo, who thinks he's a dog (he even fetches things). They all get on really well although sometimes Rodaidh bugs Milo who just tends to ignore him until he gets bored and stops.

The cat was fine at first and kept going up to Kaiser and wanting to play but Kaiser has since found his voice and I think this has spooked her a little.  It is definately a friendly bark rather than a growl and I am hoping that she will get used to it and they will be the best of friends.  My other 2 cats (a Bengal & Persian) just growl slightly if he gets too close.

I do like the Kaiser Chiefs and I thought the name was a bit different to the normal dog/human names.
