Dilemma

:o
Not sure what to do, if we are out for a walk with Tali and Jurra, they are usually very good, however, if another dog approaches and Jurra gets scarred and cries, then Tali rushes over and barks/growls at the other dog.  I don't know whether to tell him of for being agressive towards another dog or say well done for protecting his little sister which is quite sweet really.

Any thoughts, hes not an agressive dog and doesn't go for other dogs as such, just growls and barks if they creep up on him (ie he doesn't notice) or thinks Jurra is frightened.

do I tell him off or praise him??

I agree that he is probably scared. It sounds like both dogs are afraid but are showing it in different ways. Could you work on their socialisation skills? Maybe meet up with a couple of people with friendly, calm dogs and gradually help teach them that other dogs are not a threat?

I am having the same problem with Alfie  :(  He had his first fight the other day with a working cocker who he has met on many occasions before . Ashley was getting very excited and trying to say hello to me and Alfie put his paws up on Ashley's neck and it all kicked off   I was shouting at him to leave and managed to grab his collar eventually , but that was after Ashley had him pinned to the ground.  His owner was full of apologies, but it wasn't really her dogs fault.
Alfie seems to be like this with other dogs who are excited and pleased to see you. He was growling and chasing  a dog twice his size last week. I thought it might be male dogs but he is fine with the two westies and my friend has got a border cross, and he's friends with him. I think he's protecting me ?  If I see another dog coming now I put him on his lead but sometimes it's not possible as he's either miles behind me or up in front.
Alfie, and Jay J. together over the Rainbow Bridge. Always in our hearts but dreadfully missed.

Have you tried walking Jurra on her own occassionally?? Was Taliska like this before?? If not it sounds like he is reacting to her fear.
