Crate Training

My 6 month old cocker as been an angel in his crate up untill a couple of weeks ago. We could put him in there at night and he would'nt make a sound until we let him out in the morning. I knew it was too good to be true because now he starts banging on his crate as if to say let me out. He does'nt whine too much but the banging seems to make more noise. He know settles after about 1/2 and hour but it has been upto about 2 hours. I am new to this forum so any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
