Someone told me when we got our first working cocker that as a rule, cockers take more training than springers because they are more stubborn and willful but also slower to mature and there's not much point in any 'serious' training before six months and don't expect too much too soon. Compared to a springer and say, a collie, or a lab, I'd say that was true, but they still seem to be very willing so long as there's good treats!

I would totally agree with that !!

She is very willing to learn the obedience training     BUT only when we have her concentration !! which we understand is only for very short periods at this time

However its her behaviour I.E the chewing and naughtiness thats the main concern  we try to distract her to her toys but sometimes she is just so focused on her naughtiness like the diving behind the telly to chew wire etc etc that this just does not work  :embarassed:

Time out in the crate just causes her to flip out and have a major tantrum where she just rives everything in her crate about and then screams the house down !!

The last 2 days have been downhill all the way and puppy class tonight was not good  :embarassed:  when she couldnt get down she was going beserk and biting me !! Although when she did go down she was very behaved and socialised well

We switched her onto 1/2 a tin of puppy tinned meat with dried puppy food over 3 meals per day ( asda ) last week and I wondered tonight after talking with Nik if she was getting too much protien and it was making her hyper ??  We just figured it was a nicer diet for her ??

Any advice appreciated

Oh dear, i'm sure there will be lots of ups over the next few days to offset the downs!

I am reading this in anticipation of picking up our little working cocker pup on Friday. The breeder says he was the most laid back out of the litter so I am hoping he might be an angel!  :D I will let you know.

Good luck!
Caz :)
