Another chicken wing question...
« on: April 11, 2008, 12:57:04 AM »
Sorry...please bear with me.

So Jerry has now been getting his evening chicken wings for some two weeks or so. He now even seems to like them, too ...

However, almost every night now he goes and throws up little pieces of bone. This has happened occasionally before, whenever he ate something funny he couldn't digest (...leaves, pieces of stick, grass etc ph34r) but now it happens really almost every night. (Moreover, he has his favorite "nightly throwing up area" which happens to be our somewhat nice rug in our living room  ph34r ph34r).

So, is this still normal? It doesn't seem to bother HIM much (one minute procedure and he'll jump back into our bed) but OH now says chicken wings are not a good idea. Should I stop feeding them?

Hehe Poor Gerry!

Rommel never throws up his so perhaps change to a chicken neck and see how he goes. Rommel swallows them whole. I wouldnt say like a pig as they chew. It is more like a duck.

Cheers

How about try bashing it with a meat cleaver (blunt end of a knife) and see how he goes them?

If I could find chicken necks here...  :-\   ...doubtful.

Well, ok I'll start bashing then...but it is already quite small pieces that "resurface"...

does he eat them really quickly? I find if Jarv scoffs anything and too much of it he throws up...

It does sometimes take time for their digestive system to adjust to bone etc....

Bella used to do this so I switched and tried feeding her them in the mornings instead, and for some reason she was never sick then, so she now gets all her bone-based meals in the mornings. I never worked out why they made her sick in the evenings but there you go...  ;) :D

I'll try that! Thanks, Claire (once again)!!
