Anybody use Firefox?
« on: November 10, 2013, 01:51:27 PM »
Having had problems with IE I changed a few months back to Firefox. All worked well until a recent update has seemed to cause a problem. Whenever I open a site either from a shortcut on my desktop or tab the browser stops until the cursor is moved, the action sometimes having to be repeated until the site opens. I have no problems navigating within the site opening new pages etc, unless its a link onto a new site, so I'm assuming a problem with the browser.

I'm also experiencing problems watching video clips as the screen is freezing but the sound continues and once the cursor is moved the picture catches up. Although this doesn't seem to be a problem with live streaming such as BBC iplayer other than the initial freezing when 1st accessing the site.

I have used system restore to a date prior to the last Firefox update and the problem disappears only to return when Firefox updates automatically  >:D

I know this seems to answer my own question but I've searched for this problem on Firefox forum and can't see any posts and have also restarted Firefox which hasn't solved problem. IE doesn't have this problem, but don't really want to go back and use as my default browser.

Anybody have any advice or suggestions for Firefox or can recommend other browser such as Opera etc?

Use Chrome myself, no problems at all.
If you really want to use Firefox can you not turn off updates until problems are resolved ?

I have to agree - my OH uses Firefox sometimes and is always swearing and cursing at it.  I also use Chrome with little or no problems.

I used to be a big fan of Firefox but also use Chrome more and more now - it is much more reliable :shades:

Thanks for your replies.

I have downloaded Chrome, but unfortunately the problem is also occuring on there. Looking at the updates just prior to the problem starting I think it may have something to do with McAfee.

If you believe it is something to do with McAfee then temporarily disable it and see if the problem goes away.
There are alternative anti virus programs, as there are browsers.
