It’s with a very heavy heart I’m writing this. Yesterday evening we had to let Rosie go to the Bridge.
She was a couple of months off 15 years old. For the past few years she had have warts and basal stem tumours removed, but otherwise had had a healthy life. On her last blood test in January, it revealed she has raised liver enzymes and very likely her liver would fail. So for the last few months her back legs had become progressively weaker, and at times had poor coordination and concentration, but a daily dose of milk thistle enabled her to lead a normal life albeit much slower. Sadly on Sunday her body started to shut down and she may have also suffered a small stroke.
I’d originally got her for my Mum who had lost her previous cocker to pancreatic cancer. Sadly my Mum died when Rosie was 14 months old and so she came to live with us and our then 2 cockers Poppy and Holly. I’d like to believe that she has now been reunited with my Mum and Poppy and Holly.
For those of you who still visit this forum and came on COL walks at Lullingstone, Hylands Park and Sutton Park, you will remember how she could find water a mile off. Due to a benign ear tumour 2 years ago she wasn’t allowed to get water in her ear and so had to give up her obession of swimming. Hopefully there’s plenty of water at The Bridge.
