How tall is your cocker?
« on: January 15, 2008, 01:47:19 PM »
Before we got Lola I had never heard of a working cocker!  But since being on this website I now realise that they seem to come in a variety of sizes - height & weight - and I just wondered how tall everyone else's dogs are.

Lola has a brother from a previous litter (but same mother and father) and he is enormous.  The first timeI saw him from a distance I thought he was a flat coat retriever!

Anyway....Lola is 16" to where her neck starts (I don't know whether that is the right place to measure, but hey!).

So how tall are yours?

The correct way to measure is from the shoulder to the floor  ;) :D

Molly (show) is around 16"

Honey (1/4 worker) is around 17"

Only guessing really as I'm using a tape measure I won in a Xmax Cracker so its probably wrong!!!  :005:

Mine are only pups at the moment, but I was really hoping that they'd stay under 13.5ins at the shoulder so they could compete in the 'Small' category for agility, but Roxy is nearly 13.5ins already!! She's a 4.5month old Working type cocker, her parents were 12ins (Mum) and 14ins (Dad) at the shoulder. Rio's parents are (I think) nearly 14ins (Mum) and around 16ins (Dad), so she'll probably end up being a 'Medium' agility dog.

I really wanted to read this thread, because my girl is so tiny compared to all the show cockers we meet. But she is half working, so I wanted to see how tall all the other dogs are. But can someone please teach me how to make " into cm? (so embarrasing, but I have no idea ph34r ).

That's an interesting thread. I always had the impression that Jerry is a little "too" tall. Just pulled out the tape measure (and the cocker from underneath the table), and he's 18", maybe a little over.

Thank you  :D
Laurië is about 15" I think (she wouldn't stand still). That's not too bad for a bitch is it? Everyone thinks she's a puppy and people keep asking me why she is so tiny, and all the cockers we meet are larger than her. Hmmm..
