06/04/16 Eileen's story is one I speak about with great pleasure. She came in a petrified wreck due to her troubled background as a breeding dog, she was very vocal as a result of her extreme stress and was near impossible to handle. All that is in the past however and this week after a long month of calm socialising we had a breakthrough with her and she began her harness training! She did me proud, she enjoyed running about on her harness in the yard a lot, even wagging her tail occasionally. While she is still very nervous as you approach her to pick her back up, this is a great foundation to work from and the next step will be to get her confident enough on her harness so that she can go on regular walks like any other dog.
Despite her huge progress Eileen is still a nervous girl who needs a very understanding and patient home. Things we take for granted such as regular household noises, traffic and other people would cause Eileen to be extremely nervous and she would need introducing to these things slowly and gently. Other dogs have never been an issue for Eileen, she has shared well and enjoyed the company of every dog she has been kennelled with, as she is still so nervous she would definitely need a friendly doggy friend in her new home for reassurance and support.
Eileen's tremendous development is wonderful and she is looking for a loving home to continue this. She is living proof that no matter how troubled a background a dog has, they can still come around with the correct care. If you believe you have the ideal home for a dog like Eileen, please put in an application for her on the Many Tears website, she would flourish into the most loving companion ever, I assure you!
