Thorns and conditioner
« on: November 27, 2010, 11:00:13 PM »
Today we went with Scarlett and some friends a long walk by the sea...
There were many thorns all over the place and a friend of mine having an Irish Setter told me that in Germany, hunters spray the coat before hunting with water and conditioner and the thorns dont stick and if they do, can be removed easily.
Scarlett had 5 huge thorns on her coat at the end of the day. The 3 I removed there...
The other two was impossible... When we went home I prepared a mix of water and conditioner, sprayed directly on the thorns I brushed them a bit and removed them immediatelly!!
I will use this trick again if needed :D

By thorns I mean the small Round black disturbing plants growing in the ground sticking into dogs' coats... I hope this is the correct word...

Good tip thanks Julie :D ..... there's lots of names you can use to describe what you're talking about, we call them 'sticky buds' (if ive got the right thing!)

Hope you enjoyed your walk!

Boots do a spray leave in conditioner, they probably do a few but the one I have is coconut something or other. I have sprayed Paddy's ears and feathers before he worked or trained in thick cover to make those thick brown Burr things easier to get out. It works, he just smells like a coconut  :005:
