Crusty bottom of ears
« on: November 28, 2010, 02:44:46 PM »
Anybody got any tips of how to stop the very bottom of Alfie's ears getting crusty?  And how to get the crust that's already there off ?

I wash my cockers ears fairly regular in a plastic jug with warm water and dog shampoo, if your dog will let you try and dry a bit with a hairdryer...but that can be tricky as its so close to there face.
Doing often maybe every 10 days or so keeps their ears free from crusty bottoms  you will have to keep them a gentle massage to loosen the harder bits but hopefully it will go after a couple of washes. I do brush my cockers ears every day too which helps...these cocker are high maintainance  :005:

I agree, regular washing and brushing is the only way to keep them clean and tangle free, as well as keeping the hair on the inside of the ears short or clipped  :D

Diluted hibiscrub or malaseb shampoo from the vets is useful too to get rid of the current crusty bits and then for maintenance.
