Title: Puppy (16 weeks) barking at approaching dogs and people when out walking!!
Post by: allanmac83 on August 24, 2020, 09:55:18 PM
Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well.

On for some advice, my Cocker spaniel Penny is a such a great little puppy, well behaved and such a placid little girl, the problem I have though is when out on walks she keeps barking at strangers and when another dog is approaching she is the same, her tail is wagging so I know she is happy but it is really frustrating and would like to put a stop to it early, She is fantastic off the lead and her recall is superb just the barking problem and just recently started this.

If any of you guys have had this problem or any advice it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I think best thing to do is be armed with treats on walks and when you see a dog/person approaching, distract puppy with a treat, ask them to sit and reward the calm quiet behaviour that you want. Start incorporating a command into the ignoring the dog/person so that they learn this "quiet" or something. :)
