Incontinence Pads
« on: January 01, 2020, 01:09:58 PM »
Sweep is now taking regular steroids for her foot problem and one of the side effects is that the steroids make her drink a lot of water.
Clearly what goes in must come out but just recently she has had a couple of accidents overnight as she can’t hold on.  When she does wee in the morning it’s a very long wee 😉
She does try and wake us up to go out but I’m afraid we didn’t hear her.  :-\

She is not incontinent as such so I am just wondering if we could or should put a puppy training pad down overnight to help her and does anyone have any experience of getting an older dog to use one.  Or should we just try and get up in the night to let her out in the garden -  that’s not a prospect that I relish as I would have to get up every night and I would become very grumpy with OH.
thanks for any thoughts

Could you try to get up for her once a night ?
My concern would be if you let her know that it's ok to wee in the house ( by using pads) would it be easy to train her not to go in the house after her meds have ended, also could she have a urine infection?
