Sorry to read you are having little luck...but sometimes waiting finds what we are looking for.
Do not want to offend any breeder we know and love, but am sure she will laugh at this.....the only time I ever went to a Cocker Dog show was to meet a breeder - she had been charming on the phone, and actually phoned me twice on Saturday and once on the Sunday to say she was at the show, so OH and I drove the 40mins to venue.
I arrived and was gob smacked, amazed - lost for words - it was like a mini Cruffs, the most immaculate cockers you have ever seen, my eyes were everywhere at the perfect cockers.....but I felt so out of place, plus it was very much a them and us between the breeders. All in there own little areas, like all people some never gave a glance and others a lovely smile. It really looked clicky! As for the breeder it was like I was talking to a different person, I was given the third degree, and she was a little rude, while I felt a good breeder I would ask all the questions, OH was not amused, and walked off back to the car. She couldn't let us have the dog, but might let us have a bitch, which was not what I wanted. The dog was only about one and hadn't taken to showing - Less than an hour ago it had been so different - it was obvious that she had come to some arrangement with someone at the show.....I walked out very disheartened, a breeder who I had chatted to when I first entered the venue was walking her dog outside again another chat and told me not to give up my search.
So there are good and bad everywhere,
Good luck
Julie
