As some of you know Wilf who's not quite made it to a year old (2 weeks time) has had cancer. Everything re his treatment has gone well and he's still the happy bouncy boy I adore.
I've found another lump that is similar to the last one but this time its on his other ear. Trouble is now that he's older he's got so much fur on that ear now and he wriggles so much its difficult to find out exactly what it looks like. Whatever it is its weepy like the last one but I'm hoping it could just be where some other puppy's teeth have got caught and broken the skin (they just love to hang on cocker ears don't they).
Thankfully I'm really friendly with the vet nurse here and will ask her if she'll help me shave away the fur tomorrow so I can see if its something to worry about. My regular vet's on holiday so it doesn't help in my panic either.
My vet practice know that while I'm quite sensible that I will be coming in from time to time for very little things that worry me about him.
"So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?" (Kipling)

Finger's x'd Penny - must be so hard for you not to worry given Wilf's history to date - poor wee lad. Doesn't seem to worry him too much tho and I guess whatever the outcome - that's the main thing - for now anyway.
-
Same here Penny...thinking about you and Wilf
-
Fingers crossed here as well Penny.
Thinking of you both, and praying its nothing to serious.
-
(http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4_2_5v.gif) Poor you and poor Wilf - he's really been through the mill. We're keeping our fingers crossed here, that it's nothing to worry about! Good luck tomorrow.
-
Penny I can only imagine what you must be going through at the moment given Wilf's medical history :(
Fingers crossed for the little guy here too.

Have just taken them swimming and its lovely to see how he enjoys it so much. Many thanks for all your support. Am probably being a big worrywort.
Edith, its a great poem:
The Power of the Dog
THERE is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie
Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet's unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it's your own affair—
But ... you've given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!),
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone—wherever it goes—for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear!
We've sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent,
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we've kept 'em, the more do we grieve;
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long—
So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?
Rudyard Kipling

I hope it's nothing serious, I'd be worried too though so I'm no help! Keeping everything crossed for him, wee soul

Penny, did not realise that Wilf had had cancer. I truly hope that everything turns out okay for you tomorrow and am sending lots of positive thoughts to you both. Happy that it does not appear to be troubling him and he's enjoyed a fun day today.
(http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/sad/310.gif) - this is me after reading the poem.
-
Penny, I am hoping to God that there is nothing wrong with Wilf. I could tell how worried you were yesterday :(
Fingers crossed.

Fingers and toes and paws crossed here too Penny for little Wilf, an extremely brave boy indeed, hope all goes well tomorrow! Can't imagine how worried you must be, sending you hugs too and the little guy of course :)
-
Hi Penny,
I do so hope that both of you will be OK!!!
Thinking of you,
-
Sorry to hear your news Penny - like everyone else I hope that it's nothing serious, and that you'll keep us posted.
-
Just got back from the vets. Am lucky in that they will see me straight away if I'm ever worried about anything (and they didn't even charge me today!).
Well it is a lump once we'd shaved the fur away (Wilf is such a patient angel when he goes to the vets and as he loves the place, strange dog, he always feels at home there). Vet I saw thinks it could be a fungal infection (even though I keep his ears clean) so for now I've got to get the old malasseb shampoo out and keep an eye on him for any other lumps. My regular vet, Steve is on his hols for the week so if there are no other crises re lumps and this present one is still there then I'll take him back to see Steve on Monday. Panic over but I'm not uncrossing my fingers too much until this lump has gone!
-
Well that's good new Penny :) let's hope it is just a fungal infection, I have my fingers crossed for you..keep us posted on the Wilfs progress
-
Let's hope the news stays good!
Best Wishes,
-
penny so far so good :D don't you have a great vet? I have lost faith in mine  keeping fingers crossed for little wilfie x

Oh Penny that is a relief. Good news for Wilf too (hope he likes baths as much as he likes the vet!!!)
-
awww Penny thats great news, I'm so pleased for you, you must be so relieved!!!
-
He may have been an angel at the vets but so far he's had cat poo for breakfast (yuk!), emptied the washing machine for me, and teased the cat, and just generally been a naughty, but very cheeky with it, cocker boy
-
Penny, just caught up with this - Poor Wilf! Good news too, but I bet you won't be completely reassured until you see your normal vet. Good to hear he's up to his normal tricks!
-
Thats good news Penny, and what a relief! for you. :)
-
Penny, I think that's a fair exchange - cat pooh breakfast in return for a visit to the vets (http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0304/sprachlos/speechless-smiley-034.gif)
Well, so far so good hope it is just a fungal infection - keep us posted.

Wilf adores going to the vets believe it or not. If we go past when they are not open my two are desparately trying to get through a locked door. Last week I walked past and they sprung the door open themselves to a much amused surgery!
-
What a relief for you Penny!
-
Good news Penny - hope the Malaseb sorts everything out :)

Only just caught up with recent posts.
Hope is all okay Penny and that Wilf's problem is 'just' a fungal infection.
Everything crossed here for you (http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_6_16.gif)

Excellent news Penny. I really hope the Malaseb does the trick. I'm sure with his history they'd have done further checks if they had any suspicion that it was something more serious. Good luck with the shampooing

Unfortunately no more checks at the moment as my regular vet is away it makes sense for him to deal with it when he comes back and just try the malaseb for now. However if I find another lump then he's straight back!
-
Phew! what a relief for you Penny, I can hardly see through my tears at the poem!

Penny
Just caught up with this as I've been away. Glad that it just seems to be an infection.
-
Sounds promising :D
Wilf is such a gorgeous special boy, I hope the Malaseb works for him :)
-
HI Penny,
we've been away too - glad it's just an infection - hope the malaseb is working ok for little Wilf
hugs and cocker kisses to you both
