Hi everyone

Just wanted to say a big thanks for all your help,  it was good to hear that I can control Louis weight by feeding him sensibly and regular exercise.  I am now off to pets at home to but some naturediet.  If this goes well then I will phone the manufacter and order in bulk.  I'll let you know how it goes.

On the subject of chicken wings, do they cope ok with the bones?  I would like to try louis with these but would be worried about the bones.  Do you think he would just crunch them???

BFN

Hi Gemma
yep he will crunch them it may take a little while to get the idea or it may be that he will get the hang of eating them straight away but you can bet your bottom dollar that once he gets the hang of eating them he will crunch them like we crunch crisps and it's funny cos they never seem to get fed up of them, every time scoobie has his it's as if I was giving him something different each time instead of that doleful look of oh no not THAT again
All the best and let us know how he gets on with nature diet

Hi Edith

I'am from North Tyneside, the other side of the water! I live in Wallsend. I know Southshields quite well as one of my friends live there.  Myself and my husband also like to go to Ocean road where all the indian restaurants are, I don't know if that was there 30 years ago!

I'am pleased to say that I gave Louis naturediet on Monday night and he ate the whole lot, never came up for breath.  I'am amazed     as he has turned his nose up at all the other moist dog food I have tried.  I bought a weeks supply from pets at home, but now I know he likes it I think I will be contacting the maufacturer and buying in bulk!!

Thanks for your help, You wouldn't believe how happy I am now Louis is eating something that I know is healthy, and he enjoys it :D  :D .  Everyone else thinks I'am mad, but I know you lot at cockers online are just as mad and will totally understand!!!

Bye for now

I know ocean road very well I have a story to tell about the indian restaurant that I went too but it's embarrassing so will save it for another time  (well I was only 16 then)

What is it with vets? My vet also told me that Toby would put weight on after castration but not to worry as it was normal
He HAS put some weight on, so I've started feeding him less (he has Burns) and he doesn't seem particularly hungry.

I know vets are good at what they do, but I don't think they have specialist knowledge on all breeds, and they just talk generally, unless of course they have there own dogs.  Well that's what I think about my vet anyway.

I think as owners we know our cockers best, and if we are aware that our cockers could put weight on due to being neutered then we can moniter their weight and decrease their food if necessary.  I think all cockers have their own individual personalities, for instance, I think that the general consensus is that cockers are greedy, but I wouldn't say my louis is particularly greedy,  he never greeds at mealtimes and only gets treats when I'am training him.  If he's full he will leave food in his bowl, this is probably because he hasn't got any competition.  I always remove the food when he leaves his bowl.

I'am going to make sure that louis gets plenty of exercise and has a healthy diet in order to maintain a healthy weight!
