Naughty Aspen
« on: September 12, 2006, 04:57:44 PM »
Took Aspen and Vegas to the vets this afternoon to get their blood samples taken. It all started fine and the vet took them both out the back to be done while I took a seat in the waiting room to deal with the paperwork etc. The vet then comes out asking me to come through the back as having a few problems getting the sample from Aspen. I get out the back and there is my puppy on the floor with 3 nurses either holding on to him or sitting on him ph34r I had a shot and didn't fare any better so, the shame of it, he needed to be sedated :embarassed: It took about 15 minutes for it to kick in but he eventually stayed still long enough to get the required amount of blood.  The vet was lovely, and ever so patient (unlike our ones >:() and kept apologising for the mess of his throat which now resembles a pin cushion :005:

Needless to say Vegas was good as gold and was sat watching Aspen's behaviour in utter bemusement

TBH I can't say I blame him, I hate needles  :o

Must have been quite funny though, the vet probably thought they were in for an easy time with the cuddly wee cocker pup and then all hell breaks loose!  :005: :005:

vet's are scary places sometimes ::)

poor aspen and indie :'(

we used to have a weimaraner that hated the vets - she would stand up on her hind legs and brace herself with all 4 paws against the door frame of the vet surgery door.....its not easy to get them over the fear is it.

Don't worry Emma - the more stories the better. MAkes me feel less mortified    The bloods were for their optigen tests. He is still nice and calm at the minute so obviously still under the influence - I'm enjoying it while it lasts

Aw Gill, thank goodness its not just Molo - I was totally mortified when the vet told me he was the only dog that had ever had to be sedated for the dry-eye test  ph34r

As PennyB very sensibly pointed out to me - it's better that they are sedated than forceably restrained, though  ;)

Molo was a total zombie for the rest of the day........spooky for a cocker  ph34r
