Monty vet update
« on: December 03, 2015, 10:19:01 AM »
Hi all,

So had Monty's follow up appointment from his vets appointment last month. We did everything the vet advised and saw some slight improvement in the limping. However I did notice the other day that he is reluctant to lie like a frog and will only do it with one leg - his bad one he keeps tucked up.
The vet had a good feel again today and he was in noticeable pain when she examined his hips on this left hind.
I'm taking him in on Tuesday for X Ray's, which the vet will then send to a specialist. She mentioned the words dysplasia, early onset arthritis etc. But obviously won't know until after X Ray's if anything shows up.
I cried on the way home... Being silly but it's going to break my heart leaving him there and worrying about him all day! But at least we will have a clearer idea of what's going on. So worried for my little guy :-(
Just thought I would update and just off load really, feeling sad today xx

Love from Polly and Monty!

Aww, poor little Monty, no wonder you are feeling sad  :bigarmhug:. It,s always a wrench to leave them at the vet, you just want to stay and hold their paw. Better to get to the bottom of what is causing his problem sooner rather than later and you know what you are dealing with. Hurts us so much when our little guys are poorly.  :bigarmhug:

Keep us posted.

Fingers crossed for him. I don't think crying when you leave them is silly at all. How do you not? Never been able to.

Keeping fingers and paws crossed! I've been in tears just reading stuff on here, so its perfectly justifiable to get upset over your little lad! It just proves we have hearts!! :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:

Sorry to read update about Monty, hoping the xrays show nothing too bad - but at least you will know what you are dealing with once you have the results.

It's horrible leaving them at the vets and only natural that you would be upset at the thought, try to find lots to do on Tuesday, easier said than done, I guess

Best wishes for you and Monty  :luv: :luv:

I've just had a call from the vets. I'm heartbroken for my boy, he's been diagnosed with hip dysplasia in his left hind. I don't know what to say or do right now. We've got to go and see the vet at 3pm to see what our options are. I'm so upset

I'm sorry to hear about Monty.

If it's any consolation, I occasionally meet a lady walking her gold cocker and he has hip dysplasia in both legs. Every time I meet her I ask how her dog getting on and he is improving all the time with the right physio. I can't recall if he had an op originally but he always looks happy and pain free on his walks.

Sorry to hear that Polly, Monty is one of the most beautiful dogs I have seen. I am sure something will be able to be sorted. I will be thinking of you at 3pm.

both of my last German shepherds had it, although both went on to a ripe old age of 15. I've never thought of it as being a cocker problem though. Crossing fingers, paws and everything we've got,  that its not too drastic and that something can be done for little Monty. All the best!
