Back home. Pretty angry actually. The lady that handed him over to us didn't have a clue what she was talking about and basically said here's the dog, here's the X Ray's, bye. She couldn't answer any questions we had and just feel I've been left wanting. (Our usual vet had gone home)
We're waiting to hear about the options from the specialist. This should be in a few days. She also asked if he was insured. He's not. But we're lucky enough to be in a financial position where we are able to pay for his treatments. She said "oh if he was insured I would suggest a full hip replacement but as he's not...." This made me even more angry!
So pretty upset and annoyed right now but will know more in a few days. Thanks for all the well wishes xx

Yes I think I would be angry and upset too, sounds very off hand treatment.

When people say that about insurance, it makes you think - does it really need doing....or are they just after the higher fees,  (well it does me anyhow) Be good when you can talk to the specialist and your vet to find out what is really going on, and I would definitely mention the bit about insurance to them too.

Here are a couple of gentle  :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: and so glad she is home with you now  :luv:

Thank you very much. We've done some research and seems there are a couple of options open to us, without going for the full replacement due to his age. Just to wait and see what the specialists say and then see how we feel.
Just trying to get our heads around it at the moment. Just hate the thought of him being in pain. He's now at home and sleeping on the bed peacefully.
What a day. I'm just trying to work out the best way of letting the breeders know as I definitely think it's something they need to be aware of, as well as other owners of the other pups in the litter. Sorry think I'm rambling a bit!

Hugs to you both but I would be looking for a new vet x one that doesn't judge your financial position and one that cares enough to speak to you when you are obviously worried!

Have to agree, pretty heartless and thoughtless.  I hope you get better news when you speak to the specialist.

I agree, I'd certainly get a second opinion. All the best for Monty!

O dear, such offhand treatment is not what you need when you are worried and upset. Assuming it was a nurse that handed Monty over to you? I would mention that to your vet when you speak to him.

Hugs to you both  :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:

Thanks again guys, really is hugely appreciated. Yes Lesley it was a nurse that handed him over. Was just hoping for some kind of answers or at least a chance to ask some questions. Lucky enough his actual vet is lovely and is very experienced and adores him. Just sad she wasn't there when we collected him.
Goodness, keep bursting into tears at random intervals! Trying to keep it together for Monty and get him sorted as soon as possible. Poor bub is just lying on the sofa not doing a lot, which I think is upsetting me more but I know it's just the anaesthetic! X

Sorry to hear about Monty, like everyone else I was keeping fingers crossed it was nothing serious  :bigarmhug:

Hoping when you see the specialist they can offer you good practical advice to help you decide the best option. I cry like a baby if I have to leave one of mine at the vet  ph34r can't bear walking out without them.
I think the anaesthetic does have quite an effect.  Ben always reacted badly and took hours and hours to come round properly, he stayed sleepy and quiet, our vet told me to make sure he was kept warm to help recovery better. Harry on the other hand bounces back very quickly so hopefully Monty will soon be back to his normal gorgeous self  :luv:

I now things are in turmoil at the moment Polly, but have hope as the specialist may have some better news and the nurse was just using her standard response. I have had a late day today and was thinking of you both earlier and was hoping you were both ok.

I love having the support on here from understanding and like minded folk. Finding today tough. As it was unexpected. I think I lulled myself into a false sense of security that it was ligament or muscle damage. Myself and my partner are determined to get the best care possible for our boy. Thank you to Bens mum and thank you as always mark for offering such lovely words of encouragement xx
