Blue has had swollen glands for about a week. I thought as in humans they would go back down after a few days. They seemed larger than yesterday so phoned the vet and got her in straight away.
He checked her over and all of her lymph nodes are swollen, the vet is pretty sure it is cancer......
She goes in for a biopsy on Tuesday to see how far advanced it is, and then we have to speak about treatment.
I can't stop crying. She is 11 now, and has a great life, but she is my baby girl and I love her so much.

I just want to spoil her so much lol, think we are going to go to the beach tmrw.
Have got my husband here with me, and have told my folks. Their oldest dog died last year (cocker), so they know the score.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that :( If it does turn out to be malignant, just remember that there are treatment options for this specific form of cancer that can give good results, so don't give up hope. Sending big hugs yours and Blue's way.

Take it a day at a time until you know what you are dealing with. Enjoy your days together and remember, Blue has no idea so she will just carry on with her life. It is harder for you :bigarmhug:

Thanks everyone,
I have been lying in bed with Blue since I got home, couldn't face going to the pics with the kids, so hubby away with them.
I don't feel very well mentally, v.v sad. I can't even put on a brave face lol, mum and dad just popped in to see if I was ok, but I was in tears.
Blue is currently rolling around on her back on the livingroom carpet oblivious lol......
Thanks for helping me through this and understanding. Some people just don't get how much our pets mean to us. x

Thanks everyone,
I have been lying on my bed with Blue most of the day, sleeping on and off. Now wide awake and can't get back to sleep. I have bipolar and things like this really effect my mood to the point of depression. So I have to be very careful. But how do you keep yourself feeling ok, when these things happen. I suppose you just have to get on with it. I watched a bit of Britain's got talent tonight, and the wee lass singing, had me in tears had to go back to bed lol.....

Difficult I know, but please stay positive until you know what you are dealing with. There are many treatments available and the prognosis for some cancers (if that is what you are dealing with) are particularly encouraging.
My friend has a 7 year old dog that was diagnosed a month ago with lymphoma and it took 2 weeks to find out it was B type, which is treatable with chemotherapy which she has now started. She had never shown any signs of being ill, other than swellings in her neck and tops of her legs.
It was the worst 2 weeks of her life and in a way wishes the vet hadnt told her "what it could be" until they knew for definite.
I do hope the news will be positive and give hugs to Blue :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:

Hi guys,
Blue went in to get a biopsy on Tuesday. They confirmed it is cancer, but they don't know if it is one kind or the other.
She seems to be feeling worse. She can't settle, and her swollen glands are gettin worse.
I am in the middle of the night, I am so worried about her, she is making quite a noise with her breathing now. I will phone the vet in the morning. Argh, I have started greetin' writing this.
I wish she would fall asleep she must be really tired. She can barely keep her head up poor thing. V cute tho.
Away to cosy in on the settee with her.

I'm so sorry to hear that she had such a difficult night, I hope last night was better. I just want to tell you not to give up hope yet, the treatment for lymphoma,although not curative, can give a long remission and the dogs handle the drugs very well! I say this from experience, our dog had a 14 month remission and there are others who have had longer remissions with lymphoma. Please don't despair just yet. Hugs to you and Blue at this difficult time.

Just heading up to the vet. Blue has green gunje coming from her wound, is shaking, and has diarrhoea. Apt at 2 so leaving in 15 mins. I feel soooo sorry for her. She seems to be going downhill fast.
Can I just say a massive thank you to everyone, being able to come on here is fab. I know you all understand.

Hoping Blue gets some relief from her vet visit. My last little boy Dickon had a similar experience after a biopsy - the wound formed an abscess which leaked a similar sounding green grunge. He was very miserable but once the abscess was drained and he had some anti biopics he really perked up. His biopsy also confirmed cancer :'( but after the biopsy issues we still had some wonderful happy times together. Coopersmum is right, things might not be so desperate. Poor blue. She has one of those cone collars one, she is totally freaked out. She has an infection and can't start on her steroids until it clears up with anti b's....
I asked how long she has and they said a matter of weeks. She doesn't seem happy at all.... my worst fear.
Have to go out this after noon for an hour to take my daughter to her horse riding lesson and i muck out. But will just have a cosy night in when we get back.
