Just wanted to update you on Laney and her water work problems.
I took her into work today for a cystotomy (Bladder stone removal) Unfortunately they didn't find stones.......they found a large tumour in her bladder instead :-( Due to the size and that its was so vascular they didn't feel happy in removing it there and then. She is going for referral on monday for ultrasound and possible removal. Removal depends on whether or not it is in the neck of the bladder. To say that i'm upset would be an understatement.....more like devistated :'( She's not even 6yrs yet

I can only repeat what has been said above. This must be such a shock for you. I truly hope all goes well and they do find they can remover the tumour and treat her successfully.

I would like to start by say a big thank you to you all for your kind words and wishes of support...Its meant so much :luv:
Well its the big day!......I dropped her off at 8.30 and have already worked my way through 20 cigarrettes ph34r My poor baby she hates being left anywhere new her big brown eyes were begging me not to go :'( The plan for today is to ultrasound her bladder and culture her urine for signs of neoplasia. If the mass has spread to the neck then he has said that it is inoperable but there is a treatment that she can have to slow the growth and he has seen dogs go on for 18mths on this. The big positive is that it is very rare for a dog of her age to have mailignant tumour and he is hopeful that it is a large polup.....God i hope so to! What ever happens she won't be opened up today he wants to wait 10 days so that the entry site from last week can heal as it would be to unfair to open it up again.......So now we wait.....I hope my lungs and my nails can stand up to the pressure!!!

Ok so just got of phone with specialist and it sounds like good news ^_^ The mass doesn't appear as big as first thought about 2" by 2" and its not in the neck so it can be removed!! :blink: At this stage they still don't know if it nasty or not but it the fact that it doesn't involve all the wall is suggestive of more polyp than the c word. I've got to pick her up a 5 tonight then book in for the op tues or weds next week depending on whether the original wound site is healed or not. One thing is that he doesn't think it is this that is causing the inconitience but he is going to try her on a new hormonal drug if necessary at the end of the surgery.
Oh happy days....i think i'm going to cry from relief now :'( :blink:
Its strange all weekend i've been thinking the worst....typical me, that way can only be better ....now well my baby's going to be ok YAY ^_^

Well she's home :D Bless her she's got the biggest baldest tummy ever where they've had to clip her up for scanning. She was so cute when she came out so happy happy wag wag and flirting with all the other dogs. We go for surgery next tuesday :-\ and i won't be completely happy until its all gone, but not long. She's got the major hump now cos she's gotto wear a buster collar but as i told her if she's gonna lick them stitches..... ::) so i think she's making it her lifes mission right now to try a scrape of my wall paper >:D

Well today was the big day....Laney had her lump removed today! All appears to have gone well, they removed the lump with good margins and had a good look around and couldn't see any others....just have to wait for the histology report now.....fingers crossed. Feel really stupid though when the vet called to tell me how it had all gone he said that it wasn't quite as he had expected from the ultrasound...but i was so relieved that she was ok i never thought to ask what he meant ph34r In my defence and had alot on my mind cos not only had Laney to worry about but Jessica thought she would like a piece of the action and has been in my work today on a drip cos she's be throwing up since Sunday and starting vomiting back water this morning. They think its may her liver going down again...... OMG.....my mind, heart and lungs can't cope with this :-\........Anyone want some lovely but not quite healthy cockers......Only joking ;)

Tell me about it......all i have to say is thank god for insurance....Laney's bill has passed a grand already AND i get discounts cos i'm staff :o

Aw thank you :luv: will definiately do that Jessica is currently curled up next to me so won't be hard :luv: and Laney is just to bright for words, just got to try and keep myself awake enough to let her out every couple of hours through the night ph34r Ah well no giving up smoking just yet for me ;)
