Adam found a hard lump on Ebony this morning and we are really worried. It's about the size of a golf ball and it is on her throat/windpipe..it feels as if it is attached, it doesn't hurt her and she has been eating and drinking fine.. were really worried because of where it is....I just get the feeling it isn't too good. I'm so annoyed that I didn't notice it before >:D only last weekend I had her on the grooming table but I never noticed it >:D
I'm going to take her to the vets first thing Monday morning, has anybody else ever had anything like this?
-
Oh poor you I can totally understand just why your worried. :luv: Once you have been to the vets im sure they will put your mind at rest :luv: Sending huggs :-*
-
You poor thing. I can understand why you are so worried.
Why do we always notice these things when the vets are shut. I hope it isn't anything too serious.
Big hugs and licks for Ebony from Eric

Yes my mums Labrador recently had one removed, in the same place, it grew very big, bout the size of an orange and also was fixed, it still turned out to be a fatty lump though thankfully. There is a thread about it on Other Breeds, http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=43234.0 I really hope this has eased your mind a bit until yousee the vet on Monday.
Best of luck :-*
-
Thanks everyone.. yes that has eased my mind a bit I thought that maybe the vet would say it would be too dangerous to remove/operate where it is...I just want Monday morning to come round quickly.....
-
Sending positive thoughts Kelly..hope its nothing to worry about (((hug))) x
-
Hope it's nothing.
Is it sore? Could it be an infection?
-
No it doesn't appear to bother her. I have looked inside her mouth and all around and all appears normal. Its not visable from the outside, it's not protruding outward, it's inside, when you feel either side of her throat you can feel it in the middle and it appears to be attached to her jaw and windpipe. Poor Ebony it's her 6th Birthday next week ...I do hope she is ok :'(
-
lets hope its nothing serious, keep us posted xxx
-
Sending positive thoughts, i know how worried you must be :-*
I just get the feeling it isn't too good. I'm so annoyed that I didn't notice it before only last weekend I had her on the grooming table but I never noticed it
Nell also had another large lump that i missed, and it was in the same place. It just appeared from nowhere. ( i'm not very good at searching out posts to find the thread ph34r) it turned out to be an infection, from a foreign body ;)
-
Really hope Ebony is ok Kelly and it turns out to be nothing to be concerned about. :-*
-
Hope everything is ok Kelly
-
Hi Kelly
Try not to let it worry you. If Ebony appears ok in herself then I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. These things are sent to try us, and I'm sure it will be something of nothing.
I'll be thinking of you monday morning and sending nice thoughts.
Love Kerry
-
I too hope everything turns out well Monday, they certainly put us through it don't they, bless em
-
Hope Ebony is better soon, Molly stole some cottage pie when she had a bad tummy, we found she could keep that down when she couldn't manage chicken. Perhaps Ebony could manage something like baby food or soup?
-
Wishing Ebony well, and she is better soon :luv:
-
Thanks everyone for your kind comments :luv: I am a worrier at the best of times but when it involves my pride and joys i'm terrible. I'm trying to think positive.

I'm not surprised you are worried - I bet Monday can't come soon enough for you :shades: I am a worrier too and get myself in a right tizz about anything like this. >:( Hope it is nothing and your vet can sort Ebony out on Monday ;)
-
No experience but wanted to wish you and Ebony well, Fingers crossed it is just a fatty lump - good wishes for Monday
-
sending lots of positive thoughts to Ebony :luv: and hoping that it's nothing but a fatty lump....roll on Monday, it's so hard waiting when you want to get her seen by the vet :-\
-
I found something very similar on my last cocker, Sophie, it was just below her throat. It was removed and all it was was a fatty lump that the vet didn't even bother to send off to be tested. I am sure that Ebony's lump will be just the same, but I do know how you are feeling because I was beside myself when I found it and couldn't believe it had got so big without me noticing.
-
One of our previous Cockers, a blue roan bitch called Capi, was prone to fatty lumps from about age seven. Although she never had one on her throat, she had them just about everywhere else. Some had to be removed, some not. She once had one on her back which erupted all by itself one day! Try to think positively - easier said than done, I know.
-
Wishing you both luck for Monday - hope it's just a fatty lump.
-
Positive thoughts for you Kelly! :luv:
-
Good, positive thoughts for Monday. Keeping everything crossed it's nothing to worry about.

Good luck for tomorrow. :luv:

good luck for tommorrow, sending positive thoughts for your dog and you and your family :luv:.
one of my dogs had something similar, and it was attached under his ear, and along his jaw, he was refered to the royal vetinary collage,in potters bar, and was seen by a specilaist, as my vet was not confident in removing becasue of location, slyvia glands ect, i feared the worst, and immedidatley thought cancer, as it come up overnight, and was attached, did'nt bother him in the slightest. he was kept in for 4 nights, and had to await for test results of the lump, they also found a pea size lump the day he was admitted, after a bit of a wait, my dog has a rare condition called sterile panniculitis. and any new lump has to be removed immeditaly, basiclaly my dogs first couple of layers of skin goes into overdrive mode and attacks his own body, even vaccinations were a normal dog can have in its neck, my dog has to have his yearly booster vaccination in his muscle in his back leg, if he needs anti boitics, he has to have intavenious drip in a leg and be admitted overnight, he can never ever have any needle any were along his entire back. even a knock along his back, can send his skin tissue into overdrive mode, and cause a lump to form. for my dog jasper, even the microchip his body over reacted too, and a lump formed , so he now has a warning on his file for no injections whotsoever neck/ back area.
i was just saying this as any lump we all think the dreaded " c" word. try and stay postivie, although my dog has a rare condition, its not cancer, they are tumor modules, although we have to wrap him in cotton wool some of the time, he has coped with this condition for nearly 9 years now, and he is checked daily, bless him. i could'nt be without him, he is such a sweet boy, and has coped fantastically with his condition.
i totally feel for you, and know what a worry finding any lump is, but ( fingers crossed for your dog and you :-* ), i really hope it turns out to be something and nothing.
sending postive thoughts to you .

Hope it is nothing too serious, will be thinking of you and Ebony tomorrow.
-
How very worrying, Kelly; I do hope it's nothing serious.
The labs were very prone to getting lumps on them; Stan particularly had a huge one behind his elbow which although it was a bit unsightly was a totally benign fatty lump which never gave him any problem. ;)
Hopefully Ebony's lump will be the same. :D
-
Hope everything goes ok at the vets tomorrow and its nothing serious

Here she is! (http://www.keladitycockers.co.uk/eby_blu_bells.JPG)
We don't have many photos of her as she hates having her photo taken, she pulls the most awful faces!!
-
Just seen this - what a horrible worrying time for you.

She must be a very brave little girl then. When Buddy had an abscess on his chest, only the size of my thumb nail, he cried like a baby and went into complete physiological shock. I thought he was going to die before we discovered the cause of it all.
I am so glad that's all it is. It's bad enough, but I know you were fearing much worse.
Hope she is soon back to normal.
-
I'm so relieved for you. :luv:
