Blood in urine...Update.
« on: October 13, 2013, 12:13:48 PM »
Gracie was spayed by laparoscopy 11 months ago.

Last night we noticed a trace of pinkish colouring in her wee.  Now today, after coming in from relieving herself in the garden, have noticed a pinkish staining where she's been.

Obviously off to the vet tomorrow........but, should I be acting sooner?  Does anyone has experience of this?

She seems ok in herself.  Not really noticed anything untoward in her behaviour.

It sounds like cystitis, although would expect her to weeing more frequently. My old cocker Della had this a couple of times and a course of antibiotics sorted her out. Might be an idea to take a urine sample with you to the vets - they can do a quick dip test there and then as well as a culture?

Oh thanks so much.  Will follow her next time and try to get some.

I was wondering whether it was so e kind of infection as she is drinking more today.  That's the only kind of indicator.  She doesn't she to be in any pain at the moment.

Will get her checked tomorrow in case she needs antibiotics. X

The reason I ask Maureen is that it might indicate struvite crystals in her bladder  I hope not but just see how she goes  :luv: x x x

She's gone rather quiet now Dianne.  Unlike her.........i am now panicking that there is something wrong.  Vets tomorrow as soon as they can see her.  Now it's lots of TLC. Xxx

Squatting more often and not a lot if anything coming out are often sign of cystitus Maureen and can make them feel pretty grotty... drinking lots will help flush it through so I'd encourage her to drink. If not maybe a little UTI... if you can get a sample from her will help the vets sort it out faster.  Gentle squidges for her - whatever it is I bet she's feeling a bit grim xx
