Found a lump on Indie, really worried
« on: February 24, 2006, 07:21:57 PM »
My hubs has just been stroking Indie under her chin, when he noticed a large lump, i've had a look its definately not a tick, it seems to be under the skin and the outside of the lump is a bit crusty (bit like dried on food) which it isn't   Shes a bit reluctant for me to look at it and as soon as I try and go near it, she starts shaking :'(   Will obviousley be popping her off to the vets asap, to get it looked at, but in the meantime, has anyone any ideas what this could be?

On the plus side she seems fine in herself, is eating, playing, sleeping as normal.  Can't help but worry though  :'(xx

Emma - it could be one of a number of things. More than likely it's just a cut or bite of somekind, but if it's causing her(and you) distress then you are better getting it looked at - just to be on the safe side ;)

Good luck - and let us know the outcome ;)

Emma, it could be a few things. One thing that springs to mind is pyoderma, a skin infection that can cause crusty lumps, that feel like boils under the skin. My Indie had two of thse undr his armpit ages ago, and I freaked out too. I was surprised to learn it was a pretty minor skin infection.

Also, she could have been spiked by a twig in the park, and have a we abscess. Phone the vet first thing and let us know how you get on, I know how scary it is. xxxx

Hope it turns out to be nothing. They are such a worry to us aren't they? But so worth every bit of it.

Hugs to you and Indie.
