Thanks again guys. Really hoping this is the turn that she so desperately needs.

I hope this doesn't sound awful - but I know so very little about pancreatitis. There is no obvious external cause - eating the wrong food and that kind of thing - could this be genetic? Is there any chance that Jasper could be at risk being from the same litter? I just wonder so that I can be more aware of what the tell tale signs might be. I've not seen anything to suggest it does work in this way - but I know so many memebrs live with the illness and wonder what you might know.

Thanks again.

Hello Pammy,      I'm so sorry to see little Minnie suffering with Pancreatitis,  it's awful to see them in pain,( so glad to see that she is a little better now) I'm sending little Minnie lots of healing thoughts.  I know when my Merlin had it, it came on all of a sudden,  no warning  the first we knew he was unwell was  late one night during a very bad thunderstorm , he raced out into the garden crying, we could hear him over the storm, he just laid down in the rain crying, I'm afraid I don't know if it's genetic.  We just had to watch what food Merlin ate (Hills I/D) seemed to do the trick and nothing else, he never had it again, thank god.  Pammy please  send lots of hugs to Minnie's owners, I know what they are going through.

Apparently chicken/turkey skin, or fat can bring it on Pammy, so I'm careful to avoid that. I'll ask in work on Tuesday, and se if there's a familial link.

Am glad she's doing a bit better.

I know when my Merlin had it, it came on all of a sudden,  no warning  the first we knew he was unwell was late one night ............... , he raced out into the garden crying, ............... he just laid down in the rain crying,

That's exactly how it came on for Minnie. She was rushed into the vets first thing in the morning this would be Wednesday and put on drips one of which was giving her pethadine. She did not respond to any of the medication in the way the vet expected but since she picked up a little form seeing her owners he decided to change her painkiller. I wonder if the pethadine was not the right one for her making her feel worse. I know what pethadine does for me - makes the doors go all wobbly  :005:

She doesn't eat much none dog food at all. Only has doggy biscuits and Nutro kibble. She might get the odd bit of meat, but certainly if she does continue to revoder her diet will be very tightly controlled.

Thanks again for all the input - much appreciated.

Glad she's feeling a bit better  :D-  my thoughts are with the owners -we were devestated enough over Poppy's illness and we'd only had her 2 days at the time!  :luv:
