Just had to rush poor Ben to the Vet as he was trying to throw up and obviously in pain (to the point of running into things and yelling)
We'd been out for a walk and he'd eaten a dead mouse (at least I think he ate it after rolling in it). He also got covered with burrs (horrible spikey, sticky big seed heads). He had got so well covered that his ears were stuck together at the top of his head!
I started on his head as soon as we got home and Ben joined in by trying to get them off his legs. He started reaching and I presumed it was the mouse coming back up
He could only produce white foamy stuff and grass. He was reaching and trying to throw up constantly so I called the vet for advice. She recommended that I give him 5 more minutes and then bring him in if he didn't stop.
Within 3 minutes he was worse, making the most awful noises, shaking and throwing himself around. I called the vet again and burst into tears! Poor Becky had the phone thrust at her and she arranged for the vet to see us straight away. The vet thinks it's likely to be the burrs and has kept him in so that they can sedate him and have a good look. I should get a call this evening to let me know how he is.
I know he's in good hands and it's not likely to be life threatening but to see him in such pain was awful
