That's brilliant.  I'm so pleased he's back home.

Hasn't the vet offered medication?

Unfortunately Barney has been given a variety of combinations of medication. He doesn't respond to most only potassium bromide and the problem is balancing the dosage that will extend the time between seizures with not giving him so much that he starts having side effects that effect his quality of life.

I'm sure you will find the correct dosage that will maintain his equilibrium and you will give him quality of life.

He's well worth fighting for and I do hope all goes well for you both.  I'm sure this will also help your son.

I am so glad Barney is back home again. Somehow I missed this thread so have just read it all.

You are having a really tough time at the moment.

I agree totally that you are the one who should decide when the time has come for him. However, please don't hang onto him for the sake of your son. Please don't take this the wrong way: it just occurs to me that your son may be just as distressed watching his beloved dog suffer as he would be when the time comes to let him go. I honestly am not criticising your decision, as I said, only you can see him day to day and know when the time is right. And for what it's worth I would probably decide the same way you have at this time. I just wanted to add a different perspective which I hope will help when the dreadful time does come.

(((HUGS))) t you all.

I am so sorry to read your message, as an epileptoc myslf, it is something the doctors brought under control and although its always there, maybe the vet could help?, it would be good if you didnt have to give up, thinking of you. x

How is Barney?

I hope your silence doesn't mean you're having problems.

Thinking of you all.

Hi Robbie
No Barney has been great since he came home from the vets. It took a few days but he is back to his normal daft self once again. We know that if the clusters get closer together we will have to seriously think of letting him go but we will wait and see. In the meantime he is being showered with love and affection. In fact we are probably overdoing it as now when friends come he sits in front of them and "grumbles" at them if they aren't taking any notice of him.  ph34r

I am so glad Barney is doing well.  :D I say he is allowed the odd grumble, everything he has been through. He knows he is a special lad.  :luv:
