My friends springers nose is like this and his owner said it was allergies, pollen, like hayfever, and he has piriton every day which helps.

i would take him to the vet - and get them to investigate further - it could be an infection.

Gari's nose is dry and crusty, he is on Piriton for allergies and I was advised to put Vaseline or E45 on it.

I used to put vaseline on my last cocker's nose, it worked brilliantly, when I could stop her licking it off!

Paddy's dry crusty nose was as a result of allergies -piriton and an anti-allergy diet, plus wiping his face and ears with a damp flannel after walks to remove pollen all helped.

Kali had this as a result of hayfever.  I too used Vaseline on her which I found invaluable for keeping the nose from drying out.
