Ebony has a lump and we are really worried
« on: June 14, 2008, 05:53:52 PM »
Adam found a hard lump on Ebony this morning and we are really worried. It's about the size of a golf ball and it is on her throat/windpipe..it feels as if it is attached, it doesn't hurt her and she has been eating and drinking fine.. were really worried because of where it is....I just get the feeling it isn't too good. I'm so annoyed that I didn't notice it before >:D only last weekend I had her on the grooming table but I never noticed it  >:D

I'm going to take her to the vets first thing Monday morning, has anybody else ever had anything like this?

You poor thing. I can understand why you are so worried.
Why do we always notice these things when the vets are shut. I hope it isn't anything too serious.
Big hugs and licks for Ebony from Eric

I'm going to take her to the vets first thing Monday morning, has anybody else ever had anything like this?

Yes my mums Labrador recently had one removed, in the same place, it grew very big, bout the size of an orange and also was fixed, it still turned out to be a fatty lump though thankfully.  There is a thread about it on Other Breeds, http://www.cockersonline.co.uk/discuss/index.php?topic=43234.0 I really hope this has eased your mind a bit until yousee the vet on Monday.

Best of luck :-*

Thanks everyone.. yes that has eased my mind a bit I thought that maybe the vet would say it would be too dangerous to remove/operate where it is...I just want Monday morning to come round quickly.....

Hope it's nothing.

Is it sore? Could it be an infection?

No it doesn't appear to bother her. I have looked inside her mouth and all around and all appears normal. Its not visable from the outside, it's not protruding outward, it's inside,  when you feel either side of her throat you can feel it in the middle and it appears to be attached to her jaw and windpipe. Poor Ebony it's her 6th Birthday next week ...I do hope she is ok  :'(

Nell also had another large lump that i missed, and it was in the same place. It just appeared from nowhere. ( i'm not very good at searching out posts to find the thread  ph34r) it turned out to be an infection, from a foreign body ;)

Hi Kelly

Try not to let it worry you. If Ebony appears ok in herself then I'm sure it's nothing to worry about.  These things are sent to try us, and I'm sure it will be something of nothing.

I'll be thinking of you monday morning and sending nice thoughts.

Hope Ebony is  better soon, Molly stole some cottage pie when she had a bad tummy, we found she could keep that down when she couldn't manage chicken. Perhaps Ebony could manage something like baby food or soup?
