Izzy Very Sick
« on: September 15, 2008, 08:23:04 PM »
Hard to start this but really I guess I am looking to off load as its been a pants day and is continuing thus.
I work from home so am with the dogs 99% of the time.  I had to go out this lunch time to take eldest child to hospital apt.  We were out for about 1.5 hours but our Au Pair was here and the dogs were inside all the time.  when we came in Au Pair told me she was worried about Izzy and had isolated her in the kitchen as she was retching up fluid.  Went into kitchen to saddest pup you ever did see.  Vomit everywhere,  liquid coming from rear and mouth thick with mucus saliva.  She was hunched in a half standing position with half of her body wet from the stuff coming out of her.

Straight to vet and they think she is infectious.  Isolated and on a drip full bloods taken and we are to call them tomorrow.  What on earth can this be? She is fully vaccinated and had not been eating anything they we know of.

Has anyone any experience that would be of benefit to me.  We are 100% worried and I cannot settle.
I love this lady so much and it was so hard leaving her there.

Thanks, Jo

thankyou already for being there as it was starting to feel very lonely as I cannot really let the kids see how upset I am - they are all now in bed  so I could " let go" a little.  Its goona be a long night.  we were just starting to talk as a family about how she will be 1 year old soon and I cannot bear the thought of her not reaching it.

What a worry - poor Izzy and poor you.  :-\  Hope the vet finds out what the problem is quickly and can start some treatment fast.  It is scary how quickly they can become ill isn't it?  :-\  Still, Izzy is in the best place and keeping her hydrated on a drip will be a help I am sure.  ;)

Hope you get some good news in the morning  :-* :-*

Sending positive thoughts for Izzy. It's awful when our doglets are ill but it's torture when we don't know why. I hope they find out soon and she quickly recovers. Thinking of you.
