What is hibiscrub?
« on: March 02, 2009, 04:06:04 PM »
I think - after searching on here - that Hattie has a lip-fold infection. I've rung the vets and I'm going to take her tomorrow if she's the same (a bit stinky and licking her nose more than usual. I held a tissue under her 'chin' and it was marked on one side when I took it away - am I right in thinking that this might be a lip-fold infection?) I'm going to gently wash her mouth with salt water but lots of the posts mention using hibiscrub. What is it? Where do I get it? And should I use it without seeing the vet first? Thanks

It's just like an antiseptic wash. You dilute it to a pale pink and then use it on the affected areas. You should be able to get it from a chemist, on-line or your vets. If the area isn't too bad ie not really gunky, sore looking etc then I'd try Hibiscrub a few times a day first. If its not clearing up or getting worse, then she may need antibiotics.

Hi you can get hibiscrub from Boots or your vets,
it is Antiimicrobial skin cleanser, you will need to diluate it, rub into the effected erea, then dry it rubbing it with a towel, its also agood idea to ask your groomer, to clip this erea using a 40 blade.

Mine our always having to have this done
