There has been quite a few cases recently about cockers with dics problems. I do know my friends dog developed severe pain in his neck which was associated with disc problems when he was 10 (although not a cocker). I read that pain in the neck area could be extremely painful and certainly in his case he was put on a morphine whilst at the vets.
The condition has a collective name of IVDD (intervertebral disc disease).
I hope your dog will feel better after resting but I'd ask for painkillers if he doesn't look to be settling or maybe a review of his condition incase there have been any changes since the vet examination.

That's pain.  I would call the vet and ask for another appointment and/or a referral to a specialist.

Yes agree with Sheryl  :shades:  He will be growling because he is in pain  :'(  You also need to see the vets today for some painkillers for him  ;)

definitely!  Especially if you have insurance; just check your policy etc for any endorsements or limits.

Our little girl went for over 2 weeks with 'undiagnosed' pain on and off various painkillers and anti inflammatories and exploratory surgeries before we were referred to a specialist who only determined it was a severely slipped disc after doing an MRI.

gentle hugs for you poorly fur baby ... I hope he is pain free soon

thanks everyone for your kind messages , we are going to phone the vet tomorrow to ask for some other pain relief to go with wot ozzy is allready on , not that keen on taking him back to the vet as he has to be muzzled every time we go and that alone i think will make it worse for him (he can be quite difficult when he wants to  :D)

They may not prescribe more painkillers without first seeing him again, so you need to prepare for the fact you may have to take him back with you grumbly or not.

Hope he can be made more comfortable.

ditto ... have you looked at t-touch at all?  perhaps you could discuss it with your vet and find some useful touches to help Ozzy
I'm trying them with Jennie, who is loving the attention  :005:
