Benylin is mostly sugar and additives - you're better off with Manuka Honey....and I think you should wean yourself off google  ;)

The antibiotics are only for infection and as KC is a virus they won't help with that so she will run the course of her illness.

She's a young healthy dog and they've said it's only mild Kennel Cough.  She'll be fine.

Maddy
she will be healing up well
internally , like us 7-10 days
so unlikely to do any damage to stitches
don't fret about them bursting.

Thank you all.

Where do I get Manuka honey? never heard of it.

Yep Helen, weaning myself off google might be a good thing as I had worked myself into a frenzy last night.  :-\

The meds she is on are, Loxicom and Noroclav ? ?

Health food shops or big supermarkets for Manuka Honey ;)

I would use any method that works to get tablets in and I would think both could be taken with a bit of food unless your vet has specified otherwise. Extra Mature Cheddar cheese is what Jarv prefers his drugs presented in (we call it crunchy cheese....)

Loxicom is for pain and is an anti-inflammatory - so that will help with her glands and any pain from coughing.  Noroclav is a wide spectrum anti-biotic and is used for the treatment of bacterial infections including respiratory infection.

And Rescue Remedy is good for stressed dog mothers  ;)

Crushed in food is fine as long
as you are sure shes eaten them.
With Sloopy he had capsules everyday
and I used to put a small lump of
butter on the end of a teaspoon and
push the capsule into it and it then
give it to him from my fingers and coz it
was buttery it just slipped down or
sometimes cut a small cube of cheese
put a slit in it and push the capsule inside
he was so greedy he would just scoff
it down ;)

Sorry to hear that Willow is poorly...hope she recovers quickly  :luv:
Erin had kennel cough a couple of years ago and we were advised to give her a childs cough bottle just to soothe her throat....we found tixylix to be the most effective in doing this. Manuka honey is also recommended for soothing a cough
Tilly is now 3 weeks post spay and she also has a 'knobbly' bit at the end of her wound where the internal stitch started....vet said was just a bit of scar tissue and nothing to worry about ...but worry is what we do eh when it comes to our babies.

Will give the cheese a go with the tablet, she does love cheese.  :D

What do you do with the honey, add it to water. If i cant get manuka honey today would normal honey do, I have some in but not the clear honey.

Just googled manuka honey and its about £15 to £20 pound a jar (whoops im meant to be weaning myself off google !!)  :005:

Thanks linzis, worry.... my worry is getting out of control lately!!  :-\ :-\

 :005: :005:
I know what you mean though...I worry if Tilly has a sleepy day...then worry when she not slept much...i worry if she does not finish her dinner ..then worry i not giving her enough if she hoovers it up  :005:
I worry about Erin if she appears 'stiff' in the morning..if her nose is too wet/dry..if she appears sad etc

I call it being a concerned doggie owner..they cant tell you if something wrong.....my OH calls it neurotic :005: and my daughter says i worry more about the pooches than i do her(pre teen drama queen) :005:

Its also worth mixing some of the honey with water and freezing into ice-cubes for her to have as the coolness will help to soothe her throat.

Fred is a wee sod to get tablets into but I normally break his norovclav into 2 or 4 pieces and coat it in laughing cow cheese, as for the manuka honey I just used to coat a spoon in it and let him lick it off and after his first bout of KC (as a pup) I then just bought 'normal' honey from the supermarket and used it instead!!

Gotta agree with Helen though - try and wean yourself off google (and onto rescue rememdy;) :shades: I am a terrible worrier and I end up winding myself up and making things worse by spending too much time on google -when Fred was diagnosed with Pancreatitis I was actually relieved as I had myself convinced he was going to be dead of cancer by the end of the week and actually ended up making myself physically ill with the worry.  They are a lot more resiliant than we are  :bigarmhug: :bigarmhug:
