Zorro's at the vet today
« on: July 21, 2008, 09:23:35 AM »
Following on from the grass seed incident the other week, the vet said it looked like there was debris from a very old infection in his ears and have us some cleaning stuff and drops to seen if we could clear it out. He's always had quite waxy ears but they've never been pongy or bothered him. Anyway although we got a lot out, because he has very long, narrow ear canals the vet wants to be sure so is washing them out today under a general anaesthetic. Hopefully that'll be that. He's been so good letting the vet poke things down his ears, the vet commented on how tolerant he was.

So we have two put-out dogs today, zoz stuck in a cage in the vet and Bella home alone till the dog walker comes for her at midday.

Will update once we get the little man home...

Poor Zorro, sounds like he has been a very good boy already, so I'm sure he will be fine.

Hope Zorro OK, Harvey suffers a bit of wax from absolutely nothing (swimming more than likely), vet wanted to anaesthetise to clean out but I said we'd try Thornits first (just because I didn't want to be having that suggested every few months...) and it did the trick to the vets utmost surprise... Since using Thornits he has not had wax again.

I think if it was just wax we'd have done the same but because there'd been an old infection in there, the vet was worried that the debris might be concealing something further down (eg a yeast infection underneath it all because it couldn't dry out properly) and cos his ear canals are very long and windy (they had to use the thinnest little thing to see down them) he just wanted to be doubly sure. He's a very good vet so I trust him on this one, he doesn't do things just for the sake of it.  ;)

Anyway doubtless as I write he's conked out on a table, poor little mite...  :luv:

Wilf had this done (I also decided that it was the best time to neuter him as well) and my vet did find he had a longstanding yeast infection. He does suffer a lot still but I now just use thornitts to keep on top of it

Milo had this done because he was having a few problems with his ear ( as I have mentioned before on here)

Touch wood, everything has been fine ever since the flush/

Hope Zorro got on okay today :luv: :luv: and that Miss Bella didn't miss her little bro toooooo much! :luv:
