Advise please - another problem with Alfie - Updated
« on: February 10, 2009, 10:54:43 PM »
I think another trip to the vets is on the cards tomorrow  :-\  He has developed a rash, like raised lumps which are scabbed over  Surely it cant be fleas  He has Program flea tabs each month and there doesnt appear anything obvious in that way

Any ideas? An allergy maybe

I know it's probably not but could it be from stingers and/or brambles?

I hope he is ok  :-*

Funnily enough we took our Alfie to the vet with exactly that, on Saturday!

The vet said (as Vicky suggested) that it is prob from where he runs through the bracken and has infected cuts from thorns, but then again he said it could be an allergy. He gave antibiotics and hibiscrub to wash the area.

Worth seeing the vet, I think.

I honestly cant work it out. We have been in the woods, but the lumps are on his willy now too  :-\ I am obsessed with the thought of mites or something  ph34r so ordered at 7am this morning some neem oil shampoo online. Would we not itch as well though if it was something like that  Hopefully the stuff will arrive tomorrow, if no improvement off the vets we go  ::)

i use half a tablet, it usually works within half an hour-haven't had to use them in months though, 'cos Marley the 'fleaby' dog gets put outside in the garden and de-flead before being allowed inside, when he comes to visit!  ph34r

Charley was prescribed Piriton last year, and it was one tablet twice daily.

Alfie went to the vets today. They think it is an allergy  :-\ To what god only knows  ::) The only thing we can identify as changing is having the kitchen redone involving walls getting knocked down etc so lots of plaster dust and stuff around. I hope it is that and not food or something else as it could be a lengthy process of elimination  ::)

He has had a steroid injection ( Alf kissing the vet as she did it)  antibiotics and cream. Fingers crossed it helps as he is so sore underneath poor baby :'(

Paddy gets crusty lumps on neck and chest sometimes with an allergy flare up. He is on piriton which seems to help and I use Sudocream which sooths his itchy bits
